  • What are our goals this week?

Reading: I can point to and read some of the words in my favorite book

I can read, write and name the sounds of the letters Xx, Yy and Zz

Math: I can count numbers to 10

    Snap Words: has, you

Writing: I can tell and write a story over pages

Science/STEAM: I can tell the weather in the different seasons.

Here’s What’s Happening inside our classroom… This is our last week of learning new letters. Play the game of the week to help your child learn letters and sounds (and snap words!). We had so much fun learning about apples! We made apple structures during STEAM with our other kindergarten friends. We also learned about the parts of the apple and the apple picking season. We just finished taking our second math test last week and now we’re on topic 3. Some of the kids struggled to compare numbers and find the number that is greater or less than. Their work Is on Seesaw for you to see. If you notice your kiddo is struggling it would be great to practice with them at home. Speaking of Seesaw any of the activities on there can be downloaded at home for extra practice. The kids can fix work they need more help with or just practice some of their skills with you at home. Finally please help the kids by reading with them every night.

Game of the Week: Where’s bear? Write letters on small plastic or paper cups. Have your child

close his/her eyes and hide a small object under one of the cups. Have them guess which by naming the letter and sound. Lift the cup to see if they are right. You

can play it with snap words too.

  • Important Dates to Remember:

    October 4th – Picture Day!

    Bring your best smile!

October 5th – Family Reading Night at 6:00pm

    October 9th –

    No School Columbus Day

How you can help them at home? •  Make sure to practice reading and writing the snap words. We

call them snap words because your child should know them in a snap. You can even have him/her take a “Snap Word spelling test”

    •  Work on all the letters of the alphabet with them. They should

know all the uppercase and lowercase letters and the sounds they make by October 10th

    •  Read every night for 20 minutes and fill out your monthly reading log. At the end of the month return it for special reward with Mrs. Hood!

Congratulations to King and Janiyah for being

our October Students of the Month!
