The Themes

1. The transformation to an industrial society

Blogging Rubric:

A Outstanding:Your blog blends course material with your own reflections, connections, and ideas. This might be interdisciplinary connections; expansions on issues from the class, reading, or another blogger; or another source. (Note that any source should be valid, checked, and referenced.)

You understand the difference between reflection relevant to the material and what would be better suited in a personal blog or the course evaluation. Similarly, your response is not based on whether you like or dislike a particular technology or subject.

Your reader understands what you're trying to express and postings are on time

B Good:Blog posting are generally on time and adhere to most of the above. There are some connections made beyond the course, but not as deeply developed.

C Satisfactory to Limited:C work usually demonstrates one or more of the following: Quick summaries abound and the writer tends to forget the audience; that is, irrelevant information appears. Sometimes there's an inability to convey ideas or the writer has trouble getting past "I like it/don't like it" reflections.  Late Blogs which are A or B quality also lurk in this neighborhood.

D to F Poor to Failing:Missing or chronically late entries which say very little. Student does not respond to suggestions for improvements.

Assignment Brake Down:

Activities 20%:

These are generally discussion-based assignments that you will find in ANGEL, or in the Facebook group. These will count for 20% of your Grade: Note that feedback will not always be given in written form but in audio podcasts also. These audio responses will be both to the class and to the individual in MP3 or MV4 format designed to play in iTunes.

In the News 10%

“In the news” is a weekly assignment that you will do in Facebook. For this assignment you will find a news related article that you will post of the wall of the course Facebook group. These news stories MUST be related to the use of technology in some way! What way is up to you? If you need a guide for this assignment look at the posting that I have done. In addition to posting you MUST comment on someone else’s link. Thus you will make 2 posting each week, a link and a comment!

Your Blog: 50% of your grade:

Each week you should 2 posts of about 1/2 to one page on your topic (this is your final project for the class and counts for %60 of your grade).

Note that each week you will get a week grade starting in week 2.

10 points for each week X 5 weeks = 50points +10 points for final organization, flow, content, and creativity
