Spirit of truth and love,life-giving, holy Dove, speed forth thy flight; move on the water’s face, bearing the lamp of grace, and in earth’s darkest place let there be light.

Holy and blessèd Three, glorious Trinity, Wisdom, Love, Might; boundless as ocean’s tide rolling in fullest pride, through the earth far and wide let there be light.

THE GREETINGCelebrant The Lord be with youAll and also with you

Celebrant: Alleluia! Christ is risenAll: He is risen indeed. Alleluia!

THE PRAYER OF PREPARATIONAll Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all

desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYERS OF PENITENCE Celebrant Our Lord Jesus Christ said: The first commandment is

this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength’. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’. There is no other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

All Amen. Lord have mercy.

Celebrant Christ our passover lamb has been sacrificed for us.Let us therefore rejoice by putting away all malice and evil and confessing our sins with a sincere and true heart.

All Almighty God, our heavenly Father, we have sinned against you and against our neighbour in thought and word and deed, through negligence, through weakness, through our own deliberate fault. We are truly sorry and repent of all our sins. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, who died for us, forgive us all that is past and grant that we may serve you in newness of life to the glory of your name. Amen.

Celebrant Almighty God, who forgives all who truly repent, have mercy upon us, pardon and deliver us from all our sins, confirm and strengthen us in all goodness, and keep us in life eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

All Amen.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth.Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father,we worship you, we give you thanks,we praise you for your glory.Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father,Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us;you are seated at the right hand of the Father:receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One,you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

THE COLLECTCelebrant God our redeemer, you have delivered us from the

power of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of your Son: grant, that as by his death he has recalled us to life, so by his continual presence in us he may raise us to eternal joy; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD ABOVEI have a strong, a perfect plea,a great High Priest, whose name is Love, who ever lives and pleads for me.My name is graven on his hands,My name is written in his heart;I know that while in heav’n he standsno tongue can bid me thence depart,no tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair, and tells me of the guilt within, upward I look, and see him therewho made an end of all my sin.Because the sinless Saviour died,my sinful soul is counted free;for God, the Just, is satisfiedto look on him and pardon me,to look on him and pardon me.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Behold him there! The risen Lamb,my perfect, spotless righteousness;the great unchangeable I AM,The King of glory and of grace! One with my himeself, I cannot die:my soul is purchased with his blood;my life is hid with Christ on high, with Christ, my Saviour and my God,with Christ, my Saviour and my God.

I bow before the cross of Christ, and marvel at this love divine; God’s perfect Son was sacrificed to make me righteous in God’s eyes. This river’s depths I cannot know but I can glory in its flood, the Lord Most High has bowed down low and poured on me his glorious love, and poured on me his glorious love.

Remain standing and turn to face the Gospel:

All Praise to you, O Christ.Remain standing until the Priest has introduced the Sermon:

THE SERMON

THE AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the

and at the end of the prayers: Merciful father,All accept these prayers for the sake of your Son,

THE LITURGY OF THE SACRAMENTWe stand to share the peace:The PeaceCelebrant The risen Christ came and stood among his disciples

and said, ‘Peace be with you.’Then were they glad when they saw the Lord. Alleluia.

The peace of the Lord be always with you. All And also with you.

Let us offer one another a sign of peace.

As the Body of Christ receives its life from God, and offers its life to God, so we, as members of that Body, greet each other in love.

CHRIST’S IS THE WORLD IN WHICH WE MOVE,Christ’s are the folk we’re summoned to love,Christ’s is the voice which calls us to care, and Christ is the one who meets us here.

To the lost Christ shows his face;To the unloved he gives his embrace; To those who cry in pain or disgrace,Christ makes with his friends a touching place.

Feel for the people we most avoid, strange or bereaved or never employed;feel for the women and feel for the menwho fear that their living is all in vain.

Feel for the parents who’ve lost their child, feel for the women whom men have defiled, feel for the baby for whom there’s no breast, and feel for the weary who find no rest.

Feel for the lives by life confused, riddled with doubt, in loving abused;feel for the lonely heart, conscious of sin, which longs to be pure but fears to begin.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Page 10: Welcome to St Margaret’s Church Ifield · Web viewAllAlmighty God, our heavenly Father, we have sinned against you and against our neighbour in thought and word and deed, through

Celebrant Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation; through your goodness we have this bread and wine to offer which the earth has given and human hands have made. They will become for us the bread of life and cup of salvation.

All Blessed be God for ever.

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation; through your goodness we have ourselves to offer, fruit of the womb and formed through your love. We will become the people of God.

All Blessed be God for ever.

We sit or stand for:The Eucharistic Prayer

The Lord is hereAll His Spirit is with us.

Lift up your hearts. All We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.All It is right to give thanks and praise.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Celebrant It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, always and everywhere to give you thanks, almighty and eternal Father, and in these days of Easter to celebrate with joyful hearts the memory of your wonderful works. For by the mystery of his passion Jesus Christ, your risen Son, has conquered the powers of death and helland restored in men and women the image of your glory.

He has placed them once more in paradise and opened to them the gate of life eternal. And so, in the joy of this Passover, earth and heaven resound with gladness, while angels and archangels and the powers of all creation sing for ever the hymn of your glory:

A Gregory Murray, OSB 1905-1992©1975, 1987 McCrimmon Publishing LtdAll Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.Hosanna in the highest.Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.Hosanna in the highest.

We praise and bless you, loving Father, through Jesus Christ, our Lord; and as we obey his command, send your Holy Spirit, that broken bread and wine outpoured may be for us the body and blood of your dear Son.On the night before he died he had supper with his friends and, taking bread, he praised you. He broke the bread, gave it to them and said: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

When supper was ended he took the cup of wine. Again he praised you, gave it to them and said: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

So, Father, we remember all that Jesus did, in him we plead with confidence his sacrifice made once for all upon the cross. Bringing before you the bread of life and cup of salvation, we proclaim his death and resurrection until he comes in glory.

Praise to you Lord Jesus:All Dying you destroyed our death,

Rising you restored our life:Lord Jesus, come in glory.

Lord of all life, help us to work together for that daywhen your kingdom comes and justice and mercy will be seen in all the earth. Look with favour on your people, gather us in your loving arms and bring us with St Margaret and all the saints to feast at your table in heaven. Through Christ, and with Christ, and in Christ,in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are yours, O loving Father, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’

All Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,on earth as in heaven.Give us today our daily bread.Forgive us our sins,as we forgive those who sin against us.Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yoursnow and forever. Amen.

The Breaking of the BreadThe Priest breaks the consecrated bread

We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. All Though we are many, we are one body,

because we all share in one bread.

The Giving of CommunionJesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Blessed are those who are called to his supper.

All Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed.

Draw near with faith. Receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ which he gave for you, and his blood which he shed for you. Eat and drink in remembrance that he died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving.

We sing the Agnus Dei.

Holiday Club: Our holiday this year runs from 1st - 4th August and we are in urgent need of helpers. Our holiday club is popular and is a great chance to share our faith and have fun with children from our local community. Because the club is running earlier in the summer than in previous years, a few of our normal adult helpers aren’t able to staff the club this year, and the fear is that we won’t be able to run it unless some new adults step forward.
