THE PRAYER OF PREPARATION

All Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYERS OF PENITENCE Celebrant Our Lord Jesus Christ said: The first commandment is

this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength’. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’. There is no other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

All Amen. Lord have mercy. Celebrant Let us return to the Lord our God and say to him:

All Father, we have sinned against heaven and against you. We are not worthy to be called your children. We turn to you again. Have mercy on us, bring us back to yourself as those who once were dead but now have life through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Celebrant The Lord enrich us with his grace, and nourish us with his blessing; the Lord defend us in trouble and keep us from all evil; the Lord accept our prayers, and absolve us from our offences, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Amen.

Hymn

O worship the King all glorious above;O gratefully sing his power and his love;our shield and defender, the ancient of days,pavilioned in splendour and girded with praise.

O tell of his might, O sing of his grace,whose robe is the light, whose canopy space;

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

his chariots of wrath the deep thunder clouds form,and dark is his path on the wings of the storm.

The earth with its store of wonders untold,almighty, thy power hath founded of old;hath ’stablished it fast by a changeless decree,and round it hath cast, like a mantle, the sea.

Thy bountiful care what tongue can recite?It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,and sweetly distils in the dew and the rain.

Frail children of dust and feeble as frail,in thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail;thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end!Our maker, defender, Redeemer, and friend.

O measureless might, ineffable love,while angels delight to hymn thee above,thy ransomed creation, though feeble their lays,with true adoration shall sing to thy praise.

’Tis mystery all! The Immortal dieswho can explore his strange design?In vain the first-born seraph triesto sound the depths of love divine!’Tis mercy all! Let earth adore,let angel minds inquire no more.

No condemnation now I dread,Jesus, and all in him, is mine!Alive in him, my living headand clothed in righteousness divine.Bold I approach the eternal throneand claim the crown, through Christ my own.

Celebrant Father, you made the world and love your creation. You gave your Son Jesus Christ to be our Saviour. His dying and rising have set us free from sin and death. And so we gladly thank you, with saints and angels praising you, and singing:

(Gathering Mass © Paul Inwood/OCP) Holy, holy, holy Lord. God of pow'r and God of might. Heaven and earth, heaven and earth, are full of your glory, your power and might.

All: Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest heav'ns!Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest heav'ns!Blessed, blessed is he who comes. Blessed, blessed is he who comes.Blessed is he, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

All: Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest heav'ns!Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest heav'ns!

We praise and bless you, loving Father, through Jesus Christ, our Lord; and as we obey his command, send your Holy Spirit, that broken bread and wine outpoured may be for us the body and blood of your dear Son.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Page 11: Welcome to St Margaret’s Church Ifield  · Web viewthat make it difficult for you to come and receive communion or laying-on-of-hands for healing, should you want to, then do please

On the night before he died he had supper with his friends and, taking bread, he praised you. He broke the bread, gave it to them and said: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.

When supper was ended he took the cup of wine. Again he praised you, gave it to them and said: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant,which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

So, Father, we remember all that Jesus did, in him we plead with confidence his sacrifice made once for all upon the cross. Bringing before you the bread of life and cup of salvation, we proclaim his death and resurrection until he comes in glory.

Deacon Christ is the bread of life:All When we eat this bread and drink this cup,

we proclaim your death, Lord Jesus,until you come in glory.

Lord of all life, help us to work together for that daywhen your kingdom comes and justice and mercy will be seen in all the earth. Look with favour on your people, gather us in your loving arms and bring us with St Margaret and all the saints to feast at your table in heaven. Through Christ, and with Christ, and in Christ,in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are yours, O loving Father, for ever and ever.

All Amen.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

THE LORD'S MY SHEPHERD, I'll not want.He makes me lie in pastures green.He leads me by the still, still waters,His goodness restores my soul.

And I will trust in You alone.And I will trust in You alone,For Your endless mercy follows me,Your goodness will lead me home.

He guides my ways in righteousness,And He anoints my head with oil,And my cup, it overflows with joy,I feast on His pure delights.

And though I walk the darkest path,I will not fear the evil one,For You are with me, and Your rod and staffAre the comfort I need to know.

God be in my head,and in my understanding;

God be in my eyes,

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

God be at my end,and at my departing.

The Prayers after CommunionCelebrant God our Father, whose Son, the light unfailing, has

come from heaven to deliver the world from the darkness of ignorance: let these holy mysteries open the eyes of our understanding that we may know the way of life, and walk in it without stumbling; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

All Almighty God, we thank you for feeding us with the body and blood of your son Jesus Christ. Through him we offer you our souls and bodies to be a living sacrifice. Send us out in the power of your Spirit to live and work to your praise and glory. Amen.

THE BLESSINGCelebrant The Lord bless you and watch over you, the Lord make

his face shine upon you and be gracious to you, the Lord look kindly on you and give you peace; and the blessing of God almighty; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be amongst you, and remain with you always. Amen.

THE DISMISSALDeacon We go into the world to walk in God’s light,

to rejoice in God’s love, and to reflect God’s glory.

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. All In the name of Christ. Hymn

Forth in thy name, O Lord, I go,my daily labour to pursue;thee, only thee, resolved to know,in all I think or speak or do.

The task thy wisdom hath assignedO let me cheerfully fulfil;in all my works thy presence find,and prove thy good and perfect will.

Thee may I set at my right hand,whose eyes my inmost substance see,and labour on at thy command,and offer all my works to thee.

Give me to bear thy easy yoke,and every moment watch and pray,and still to things eternal look,and hasten to thy glorious day;

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Please make sure you have followed the instructions on the leaflet as this is very helpful. If you cannot make it to church then please bring your shoe box to me at 190 Gossops Drive. Many thanks, Merle.
