Dorothy Williams Dorothy Williams, 86 of Arlington, SD and a resident of Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton died peacefully on Friday, De- cember 5, 2014 with her son Jim by her side. Dorothy was born to John and Anna (Olson) Kvinge on April 15th, 1928 the same day as her twin sister and best friend Doris Berg. She was baptized the same year in the Lutheran faith at Trin- ity Lutheran Church. That faith guided her through her entire life. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 13th, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arling- ton with Pastor Durk Thomp- son officiating, burial will be at a later date in the Arling- ton City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington and preceding services in the church on Saturday. Dorothy (Kvinge) Williams grew up on a farm near Hetland, SD where she attended school, graduating as co-valedictorian. She went to Augustana College and then to Sioux Valley School of Nursing in Sioux Falls, also at the top of her class. She worked as a registered nurse in hospitals, clinics and took her last shift at age 79 in Ar- lington, at the Golden Living Center. She always said her mother guided her to nurs- ing from her care of animals and how she cared for the many extra people staying with them on the farm. Six kids gave her plenty of off time to practice as well. No matter who you were, Dorothy had a hug for you and time to listen. Dorothy married Blaine Williams on June 22, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington. Marrying the love of her life, they went on to have five sons and one daughter. Dorothy enjoyed reading, bowling, babysitting her grandchildren and coffee with her many friends of Ar- lington and Hetland. She was also part of the Bible Studies and Circle groups at Trinity Lutheran Church. The women of the church groups and the countless meetings were part of Dorothy’s many fond memories. The Red Hats also brought many good days for Dorothy. Dorothy was the coordi- nator for the American Red Cross for many years and en- joyed the community of vol- unteers that made the blood drives successful. She was selected South Dakota Merit Mother in 1992 and the South Dakota “Mother of the Year” in 1994. Dorothy was a “Neighbor- hood Mother” every day of the year and so enjoyed her community. Dorothy is survived by her children Gordy ( Joan) Williams of Sinai, SD, Joel ( Robin) Williams of Badger, SD, Jim (Lori) Williams Mis- sion Hill, SD, Alan ( Jayne) Williams of Austin, TX, Paul ( Christy) of Sioux Falls, SD, and daughter Barb Williams of Sioux Falls, SD. She is also survived by, and loved by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews across the country. Dorothy is survived by one sister, Mary Ann Nelson of New Brighton, MN and sis- ter-in-laws Goldie (Stan) Kvinge and Kathryn (John) Kvinge. Wentworth, age 68, of Yankton, SD died at her home Friday, December 5, 2014. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, De- cember 10, 2014 at the United Church of Christ (Congrega- tional), Yankton, SD with Rev. Molly Carlson officiating. Visitations will begin at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the United Church of Christ (Congregational), Yankton, with a prayer serv- ice at memory sharing at 7:00 p.m. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yank- ton, is assisting with the serv- ice details. Joyce Ann Wentworth was born on March 5, 1946 in Mar- shall, MN to Vincent and Em- merence Wyffels. She was raised on a farm south of Marshall with her parents, four brothers and six sisters. She was baptized, confirmed, and attended school at Holy Redeemer in Marshall. Shortly after High School Graduation Joyce attended Mount Marty College in Yank- ton, SD receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Education. While at- tending Mount Marty College she met the man who would later become her husband. After graduating from Mount Marty College in 1968 Joyce taught in Wor- thington, MN for two years. She then spent the next two years working for an educa- tional coop es- tablishing Special Education Programs in the Mid-West. In 1972 Joyce was hired by the Yankton School District to write a grant establishing their Special Education pro- gram. On June 17 of the same year she married Steven C. Wentworth at Holy Redeemer Church in Marshall, MN. When the grant was complete Joyce stayed in Yankton tak- ing a position that would lead to her 39 year career as the Director of Student Services. She went on to earn her Mas- ter’s in Special Education Ad- ministration and a Specialist Degree in Administrative Law, both from the University of South Dakota. Throughout her career she was presented with many accolades honor- ing her dedication to the stu- dents and staff that she cared so much for. Joyce was very passionate about her job. It was her second home and family and she treated them like it. She also served on countless educational boards and committees at the local, state and national levels. Family and friends were the most important things to Joyce; in June of 2011 she re- tired from the Yankton School District to spend more time with both. Joyce enjoyed a glass (or two) of wine, lunch (especially a good chicken strip basket), the occasional concert road trip with friends, and her weekly gen- tle yoga class. She adored spending time with her granddaughters and they loved getting into mischief with their grammy. She was a member of Questers, the Re- tired Teachers Association and the Stewart School book club. She had also been work- ing on a project that would chronicle the history of the Yankton School District. She and Steve enjoyed Friday night dinners out with friends and spending evenings to- gether. Steve and Joyce be- longed to a priceless group of friends known as the pinochle club. They have been and always will be a special part of the Wentworth family. Joyce is survived by her husband, Steve Wentworth, daughters Shelby Wentworth and Lydia (Eric Koller) Went- worth and her grandchildren Elise and Mia Koller. Joyce is also survived by her siblings; Duane (Cheryl) Wyffels, Gary (Elaine) Wyffels, Tom (Becky) Wyffels, Brian Wyffels, Pam (Jim) Lewis, Mary Wyffels, Sande Wyffels, Jan (Rich) Bruder, Renee (Kim Lille- haug) Wyffels, Reggie (Jim) Halbert, and brother and sis- ter in-law Dan (Rita) Went- worth as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Diane Wyffels. Joyce appreciated her re- lationships with the people in her life and wanted them all to know how important they were to her, especially during her recent illness. She wrote a note of thanks, intending to publish it in the Press and Dakotan. That note is in- cluded below: A special thank you to all of my family, friends and the thoughtful people who sent cards, flowers, prayers and well wishes. Who called and visited and offered support during my months of contin- ued recovery from the sur- gery and resulting complications after I was di- agnosed with pancreatic can- cer. Zeeb, age 85 of Menno passed away Satur- day, December 6, 2014 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center, Menno, SD. Emil was born on Feb- ruary 21, 1929 to Julius and Ida (Heckenlaible) Zeeb in rural Menno, Hutchinson County. He attended rural Zeeb School through the 8th grade and graduated from Menno High School in 1947. Emil was united in marriage to Elda Huber at Grace Lutheran Church, Menno on April 13, 1951 and together they began farming west of Kaylor. In September 1951, he was drafted into the United States Army and was honor- ably discharged in the fall of 1952. Emil spent a brief time working for the Homestake Gold Mine, Klaudt Service, Menno Lumber Yard, Hutchinson County Highway Department, B-Z Construc- tion, and Zeeb Construction. Every Tuesday afternoon for a number of years, Emil would visit many people at the Menno-Olivet Care Cen- ter. Those who survive Emil are the Bride of 63 years, Elda Zeeb of Menno, SD; daughters, Patsy Friesen of St. Cloud, MN and Peggy (Steven) Mettler of Menno, SD; son, Dan Zeeb of Free- man, SD; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor (Wilbert) Renner of Springfield, SD; brother, Carl (Linda) Zeeb of Menno, SD and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Zeeb and Ida Zeeb; brother, Wilmer (Esther) Zeeb; infant brother, Leo; son-in-law, Don Friesen; and niece, Brenda Zeeb. She went on to graduate from the South Dakota Beauty Acad- emy in Sioux Falls. After grad- uation, she was employed at the Beauty Nook in Fantles for 7 years. She then pur- chased the Elite Beauty Shop from Ilene Gustad and opened her own shop in her home. After 41 years as a beautician, she retired in 1981. She married Dale J. Clark on June 15, 1947. They had one daughter, Yvonne. He preceded her in death in 1956 at the young age of 36. She married Wilfred N. Pederson of Gayville, SD on March 19, 1966 at Trinity Lutheran Church. They shared their lives until his death on March 14, 1996. Virginia was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she served on the Board of Deacons for several years. She was also a mem- ber of the VFW Ladies Auxil- iary, Sacred Heart Hospital Auxiliary, the Eastern Star and the Senior Citizens. She enjoyed many activi- ties including Traveling, play- ing cards, volunteering, fishing, camping, and bowl- ing. She has resided at Au- tumn Winds West for the past two years. She is survived by one daughter, Yvonne (Rodger) Welsh of Apple Valley, MN; one step-son, Steven (Mary) Pederson of Cropwell, AL; one grandson, Terry, three step-granddaughters: Molly, Megan, and Amy; four great grandchildren, three nephews, two nieces and one brother-in-law, Merle Peder- son of Lakeland, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, two sisters, one brother, two brothers-in- law, two sisters-in-law, and one step-son, Roger. Funeral services will be11:00 a.m. Wednesday, De-cember 10, 2014 at the UnitedChurch of Christ (Congrega-tional), Yankton, SD with Rev.Molly Carlson officiating.

Visitations will begin at4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December9, 2014 at the United Churchof Christ (Congregational),Yankton, with a prayer serv-ice at memory sharing at 7:00p.m. Visitations will resumeone hour prior to the serviceat the church.

Joyce Ann Wentworth wasborn on March 5, 1946 in Mar-shall, MN to Vincent and Em-merence Wyffels. She wasraised on a farm south ofMarshall with her parents,four brothers and six sisters.She was baptized, confirmed,and attended school at HolyRedeemer in Marshall.Shortly after High SchoolGraduation Joyce attendedMount Marty College in Yank-ton, SD receiving a Bachelorof Arts in Education. While at-tending Mount Marty Collegeshe met the man who wouldlater become her husband.

After graduating from

Mount MartyCollege in1968 Joycetaught in Wor-thington, MNfor two years.She then spentthe next twoyears workingfor an educa-tional coop es-

tablishing Special EducationPrograms in the Mid-West. In1972 Joyce was hired by theYankton School District towrite a grant establishingtheir Special Education pro-gram. On June 17 of the sameyear she married Steven C.Wentworth at Holy RedeemerChurch in Marshall, MN.When the grant was completeJoyce stayed in Yankton tak-ing a position that would leadto her 39 year career as theDirector of Student Services.She went on to earn her Mas-ter’s in Special Education Ad-ministration and a SpecialistDegree in Administrative Law,both from the University ofSouth Dakota. Throughouther career she was presentedwith many accolades honor-ing her dedication to the stu-dents and staff that she caredso much for. Joyce was verypassionate about her job. Itwas her second home andfamily and she treated themlike it. She also served oncountless educational boardsand committees at the local,state and national levels.

Family and friends werethe most important things toJoyce; in June of 2011 she re-tired from the Yankton SchoolDistrict to spend more timewith both. Joyce enjoyed aglass (or two) of wine, lunch(especially a good chickenstrip basket), the occasionalconcert road trip withfriends, and her weekly gen-tle yoga class. She adoredspending time with hergranddaughters and theyloved getting into mischiefwith their grammy. She was amember of Questers, the Re-tired Teachers Associationand the Stewart School bookclub. She had also been work-ing on a project that wouldchronicle the history of theYankton School District. Sheand Steve enjoyed Fridaynight dinners out with friendsand spending evenings to-gether. Steve and Joyce be-longed to a priceless group offriends known as thepinochle club. They havebeen and always will be aspecial part of the Wentworthfamily.

Joyce is survived by herhusband, Steve Wentworth,daughters Shelby Wentworthand Lydia (Eric Koller) Went-worth and her grandchildrenElise and Mia Koller. Joyce isalso survived by her siblings;Duane (Cheryl) Wyffels, Gary(Elaine) Wyffels, Tom (Becky)Wyffels, Brian Wyffels, Pam(Jim) Lewis, Mary Wyffels,

Sande Wyffels, Jan (Rich)Bruder, Renee (Kim Lille-haug) Wyffels, Reggie (Jim)Halbert, and brother and sis-ter in-law Dan (Rita) Went-worth as well as many niecesand nephews, great-niecesand nephews, and great-greatnieces and nephews. She wasproceeded in death by herparents and sister-in-lawDiane Wyffels.

Joyce appreciated her re-lationships with the people inher life and wanted them allto know how important theywere to her, especially duringher recent illness. She wrotea note of thanks, intending topublish it in the Press andDakotan. That note is in-cluded below:

A special thank you to allof my family, friends and thethoughtful people who sentcards, flowers, prayers andwell wishes. Who called andvisited and offered supportduring my months of contin-ued recovery from the sur-gery and resultingcomplications after I was di-agnosed with pancreatic can-cer. Ida (Heckenlaible) Zeeb inrural Menno, HutchinsonCounty. He attended ruralZeeb School through the 8thgrade and graduated fromMenno High School in 1947.Emil was united in marriageto Elda Huber at GraceLutheran Church, Menno onApril 13, 1951 and togetherthey began farming west of

Kaylor. In September 1951, hewas drafted into the UnitedStates Army and was honor-ably discharged in the fall of1952. Emil spent a brief timeworking for the HomestakeGold Mine, Klaudt Service,Menno Lumber Yard,Hutchinson County HighwayDepartment, B-Z Construc-tion, and Zeeb Construction.Every Tuesday afternoon fora number of years, Emilwould visit many people atthe Menno-Olivet Care Cen-ter.

Those who survive Emilare the Bride of 63 years,Elda Zeeb of Menno, SD;daughters, Patsy Friesen ofSt. Cloud, MN and Peggy(Steven) Mettler of Menno,

SD; son, Dan Zeeb of Free-man, SD; 7 grandchildren; 17great grandchildren; a sister,Eleanor (Wilbert) Renner ofSpringfield, SD; brother, Carl(Linda) Zeeb of Menno, SDand nieces and nephews.

Virginiawas born Oc-tober 7, 1919in rural Free-man, SouthDakota to

Edward and Tillie (Larsen)Christensen and grew up onthe farm where she was born.She was baptized and con-firmed at Salem LutheranChurch in rural Freeman.

She graduated from Free-man High School in 1937. Shewent on to graduate from theSouth Dakota Beauty Acad-emy in Sioux Falls. After grad-uation, she was employed atthe Beauty Nook in Fantlesfor 7 years. She then pur-chased the Elite Beauty Shopfrom Ilene Gustad andopened her own shop in herhome. After 41 years as abeautician, she retired in1981.

She married Dale J. Clarkon June 15, 1947. They hadone daughter, Yvonne. Hepreceded her in death in 1956at the young age of 36. Shemarried Wilfred N. Pedersonof Gayville, SD on March 19,1966 at Trinity LutheranChurch. They shared theirlives until his death on March14, 1996.

Virginia was a member ofTrinity Lutheran Church,where she served on theBoard of Deacons for severalyears. She was also a mem-ber of the VFW Ladies Auxil-iary, Sacred Heart HospitalAuxiliary, the Eastern Starand the Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed many activi-ties including Traveling, play-ing cards, volunteering,fishing, camping, and bowl-ing.

She has resided at Au-tumn Winds West for the pasttwo years.

She is survived by onedaughter, Yvonne (Rodger)Welsh of Apple Valley, MN;

one step-son, Steven (Mary)Pederson of Cropwell, AL;one grandson, Terry, threestep-granddaughters: Molly,Megan, and Amy; four greatgrandchildren, threenephews, two nieces and onebrother-in-law, Merle Peder-son of Lakeland, Florida.

She was preceded indeath by her parents, both ofher husbands, two sisters,one brother, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, andone step-son, Roger.
