What is
SCENAR Therapy?

SCENAR technology relies on the body’s own mechanisms of adaptation, which provide dynamic equilibrium ‐ allostasis. The body achieves regulation of its vital functions through close communication and interaction of the nervous and endocrine systems.
The trained SCENAR practitioner facilitates the device’s most efficient function by observing the treatment process. In this way the patient, the device and the practitioner create a ‘treatment triangle’. This treatment triangle is essential for correcting the disturbed function of the body and for modify‐ing the adaptive reactions of the body. This results in the restoration of the body’s balance.
A unique characteristic of SCENAR is that it makes changes to its electrical impulse automatically after measuring the body’s own response to the device. While conventional therapeutic devices are passive, SCENAR involves active reflex biofeed‐back, which means that the device communicates actively with the processes that are happening in the body.
The SCENAR device does this by monitoring the skin’s imped‐ance and consequently changing the electrical impulse it
emits. Maximal therapeutic effectiveness is possible with this active reflex biofeedback.
Can SCENAR help me? SCENAR is effective regardless of diagnosis and is therefore non‐specific. Its action depends substantially on the ability and the speed of the patient’s body to react to the SCENAR signal. Optimum therapeutic results depend on the body’s response and are therefore individual to each patient. The possibility of side effects is minimal because the SCENAR device monitors and evaluates throughout the treat‐ment.
What is SCENAR Therapy?
How does SCENAR work?
SCENAR is a form of therapeutic electro‐therapy delivered via the skin, which produces local effects by stimulating the skin, muscle and blood vessels. It also has a systemic influence on the body by influencing nervous and endocrine systems. SCE‐NAR impulses stimulate neural pathways via ‘active points’ on the skin in an effort to restore and to improve the function of disease‐affected organs and tissues.
Your SCENAR treatment
The RITM SCENAR device is a small hand held unit, which the practitioner will apply to your skin. You may feel a slight tingling sensation. It may be slightly uncomfortable but not painful.
The treatment session is normally an hour for most people. For acute injuries, the treatment time is usually less. The practitioner will “brush’ the device over your skin during your treatment. You will be encouraged to tell your practitioner of any changes you feel and any sensations you are experiencing.
The aim is to achieve a CHANGE in your condition during the treatment. In some cases, you may feel ‘worse’ after the treatment. You need not be alarmed – this is a good sign! It indicates that your body is responding quickly and a change is occurring. This is what we are looking for after your first consultation.
Your practitioner will ask you to make note of any changes you experience after your initial treatment, good or bad. Bring these notes (mental or written) to your next treat‐ment and tell your practitioner. It will help focus your treatments.
After the first one or two appointments, your practitioner will be in a better position to estimate how many treatments you may need and the time between them. Your prac‐titioner may also recommend the use of an Energy Blanket to use during your clinic visits.
