WHAT TO CHECK IN A CRECHE FOR

YOUR CHILD

Working parents, are you looking for just the right Creche for your child to stay safe and grow within?

Here are certain factors that you could consider while choosing one.

Check the direction and distance of the Creche from your workplace or home.

It should be close to either your residence, or the workplace of any one of you, so that dropping your child at or picking your child up from the Creche does not involve a lot of time and travelling.

Check the Hygiene-level of the Creche.

Find out:

How the children are fed.Where the used utensils are kept and how they are washed.

How neat and clean the kitchen is.

The condition of the bathroom/s.The sort of hygiene maintained by the Staff.

How often the entire place is cleaned and in which process.Where and how the children sleep. What kind of a place the area surrounding the crèche is.

Check the level of Medical Aid available.

What kind of medical aid is made available to children, if they fall ill within the Creche?

How quickly can that aid be organized?

What happens in the period in-between? Are there trained Nurses available to take care of children before a Doctor can arrive?

Are there separate ‘Sick Rooms’ for unwell children to rest within? Where are they located and how are they maintained?

Check how the Staff treat the children.

Find out how qualified the people taking care of your child are, for their jobs.

What kind of things are taught to the children?

What kind of language, manners and behaviour can children pick up from the people they stay with and in the care of, at the Creche?

Find out if the general atmosphere is a happy and healthy one.

The physical, mental, emotional and even the academic development of your child can depend a lot on the Creche you put him/her in.

Please make sure it is conducive to the growth and development that you want for your child.

After all, only the right leaders can provide the right guidance.
