The Society has officially launched our new Cemetery Project! On 8 Jun 2014, we gathered at the Good Springs Cemetery and re-enumerated and photographed the entire cemetery. All information and photographs have been uploaded to findagrave.com. A cemetery project page has also been added to our website. This page features a list of Choctaw County cemeteries that link back to the findagrave page for each cemetery currently represented. We have also included a findagrave.com search box specific to Choctaw County, so you can search right from our website! Check it out!

The following is a list of burials that have markers or have been verified to be buried in Good Springs. We do have a list of alleged un-marked burials that we are researching. Once these have been verified they will be added as well. If you know of a burial in this cemetery not listed, please let us know.

On our list as in this cemetery, but no markers. Most of this information is from the publication "Boswell's Rural Ceme-teries" by the Boswell Heritage Foundation. Many of these burials information was given by Anna Mae Stinson in 1997.

CCGS would like to pay tribute to all Choctaw County Veterans (past and present) for their courage, dedication, and sacrifice. We will be providing a photo gallery to honor our Veterans on our website.

If you would like to honor a Veteran you know, just fill out our Veteran Tribute form and send it to us along with a photo and a short bio (if available) and we will add them to our Veteran Tribute gallery. See the form for more details and please contact us with any questions.

Veterans need to have some tie to Choctaw County.

We are currently in the collection phase of this project. Once we have gathered enough submissions, we will upload the gallery

to our website.

Noal Nakintaya or Naknitaya

I’m looking for any pictures or information on Noal Nakintaya or Naknitaya. My

grandfather, Amon/Emon Patterson has Noal listed as his father on the Dawes cards.

I’m thinking there were several Nakintaya brothers. Davis Nakintaya is one that I

know of. I do know that Noal was some sort of sheriff for Blue County.

Mosley Wilson

Mosley Wilson was married to Noal Nakintaya around 1874 in Blue County. Mos-

ley Wilson is listed as Amon/Emon Patterson’s mom on the Dawes cards. Any infor-

mation is greatly appreciated.

Both are listed as being from Jackson, I.T.

100 Signs You're Addicted to Genealogy From Ancestrally Challenged

Signs 1-13

You might be addicted to genealogy if:

1. Every vacation includes at least one stop at a

cemetery, library, courthouse and/or archives.

2. Your doctor asks your family history and you

ask how many generations back they want.

3. Your kids can name more generations of ances-

tors than most adults.

4. You've ever driven 100 miles out of your way

because you hate to leave the state without stopping

in where your ancestors once lived.

5. You have more pictures of headstones than liv-

ing people.

6. Your ideal gift is a subscription to a genealogy

website or publication, gift cards to bookstores or

gas cards.

7. You are a lifetime member of a genealogical so-

ciety. Bonus points if you're a lifetime member of

more than one.

8. You've stalked the mailman because you're wait-

ing for records to arrive.

9. You regularly check obituaries and funeral home

websites in the areas your ancestors lived to see if

you recognize any family members.

10. Your home is decorated with photos of ances-

tors, historic memorabilia and old maps of locations

your ancestors lived in.

11. You remember your 6th great grandmother's

birthday, but forget your spouse's.

12. Your family knows that "Just let me look at one

more record" is code for "Mom's not cooking. Order

pizza."

13. You can find your 5th great grandfather's will

easier than you can find the electric bill that needs

to be paid.
