Principals MessageNovember is an election month, and

I would like to announce the results ofour Student Council Officers.President Claire WisthVice President Sean WeathersSecretary Paige KnipfingPhotographer Ashlynn MillisCongratulations to these students.

Regarding the election, we have allseen the very negative ads ontelevision, websites, and other socialmedia. It might be a topic of

conversation to have at home with ourolder students that debating or havinga different opinion should always berespectful. It is important for ourstudents to know that we can have adifference of opinion and still getalong. Our fifth grade students learnabout the Bill of Rights and the rightsto free speech and that thesefundamental principles have allowedour nation to be one of the bestdemocratic places to live. However,we also share there is a limit to what is

free speech and what is bullying orhurtful. Sometimes the election adscan send a message to our studentswho do not understand them thatpeople are bullying one another.

November is the month whenschools celebrate American EducationWeek. It starts on November 12 November 16. Did You Know?

    Children think if they see

a moving vehicle, it obviously sees

them. As we all know, this gives them

a false sense of security. When the

crossing guards are present, they will

make sure to secure the intersection

prior to allowing the students to

advance. Let your child know that it isvery important to wait until all traffic

has stopped and stays stopped before

they cross the street. Have them look

left, right, left prior to crossing the

street. They also need to point down at

the crosswalk to advise the motorist to

take note that they need to use the

crosswalk. This is a simple safety skill

that we all need to teach our kids. Stay

    Sharp and Stay Safe!

Ways to Help Wekiva raise funds!

    We are currently partnered with

    SchoolStore.com and this company

provides you with the opportunity to

purchase goods and have a percentage

of those purchases come right back

    into the classrooms at Wekiva

    Elementary.

    SchoolStore.com is an online

shopping mall with over 400merchants including Sears, Target,

    Office Depot, Wal-Mart, Disney

Store, Family Book Store, and many

more. When your family and friends

    make everyday purchases from their

    favorite merchants, Wekiva

    Elementary earns money. We sent

home an envelope of information and

we are asking you to please help your

child address email invitations to your

family and friends to let them know

about this easy and everyday way to

    support Wekiva Elementary. All

students that participate will receive a

    FREE participation prize when they

send out at least 3 emails. Other

prizes can be earned when family andfriends make purchases from the

    Family Book Store. Email addresses

you provide will be used only for this

program and will not be shared or

    used for any other purpose.

    What is Stay4Schools?

Mr. Mantel, a Wekiva parent shared

another way to raise funds for schoolswhen considering traveling.

Stays4Schools is an easy way to raisefunds for your designated school bysimply choosing to book through thiswebsite for your travel. With public finances becoming evertighter, school budgets are underincreasing pressure and administratorsare looking for additional ways toraise funds from their communities.By making a reservation through

Stays4Schools, the traveller not onlybenefits from the great deals andprices available but also generatesfunds to the school of his or her choicewithout paying any additional amount.Whether you are a regular businesstraveller or a family venturing on anannual vacation, Stays4Schools willgive 6% of the total amount spent onhotel stays to your designated school.

Powered by Priceline.com, theStays4Schools fundraising programoffers great deals for great causes. Here's how it works: traveller will

select a school of their choice, make ahotel reservation through theStays4Schools reservation system, and6% of your hotel stay cost will bedonated to your chosen school. There are currently over 40,000 hotelslisted in the Stays4Schools inventoryin destinations located all over the

    world.Thanks Mr. Mantel
