lining Collects and stores urine until can be expelled

from the body Connected to the two ureters that carry urine to it Bladder is five inches long and three inches wide

One quarter of blood output by the heart is sent to the kidneys to be purified

There are two kidneys Receives one-hundred and twenty pints of

blood per hour Are the “balancers of internal fluids” Levels out the body fluids You need to drink lots of water to keep kidneys

in good shape Connected to and gives urine to the ureters. Eleven to fourteen inches long

There are two ureters Carries urine from the kidneys to the

bladder Ten to twelve inches long Urine flows down by gravity and

contractions that pass through muscle layers of the ureters

Each ureter enters the bladder through a tunnel in it
