Jennie GuinnJ. R. Martinez sustained severe burns on his face while serving in Iraq. His injuries left horrible burns on over 34% of his body, including his face. Martinez is an example of Determination in the face of adversity. Instead of letting his injuries stop him, he has become a motivational speaker and actor. He reaches out to other burn victims and offers them hope and encouragement. Martinez is most famous for winning Dancing with the Stars in After his accident he had to learn to walk again. Even with his visible scars, Martinez Is inspiring the world with his smile.

Jennie GuinnCasey is our resident hero. Last year we watched as she bravely fought cancer andwon! During the entire process, Casey remained brave and strong. She could always be seen with a smile on her face.As the treatments altered her body, she waseven more beautiful to the world. While Casey was recovering she reached out and helped others who were also battling cancer. Casey passed out tie-dyed bandanas to other cancer patients while she was in the hospital. She also bravely shared her story with her classmates at school to help them feel at ease withher journey. Casey gave us all a glimpse of how beauty truly does come from within.

13Oscar Pistorius

Jennie GuinnOscar Pistorius is an inspiring athlete from South Africa. This past summer at 26 years of age, the double amputee participated in the 2012 Olympic games. He became the first amputee to compete in the Olympic games. The world watched with awe as he raced in the 400 meter run. He took second place with a time of 45.44, and advanced to the semifinal race where he finished 8th. Oscar had the honor of carrying the Olympic flag at the opening ceremony of the paralympics. He established a new world record and won a gold medal in these olympics. Oscar was born with without a fibula in both of his legs). At 11 months old, both of his legs were amputated halfway between his knees and ankles. This surgery didnt stop Oscar from leading a normal childhood. He participated in many sports at school including: rugby, water polo, tennis, wrestling and track. Oscar was dedicated to being doing his best and credits his mom for encouraging him and teaching him about God. Oscar has overcome many hardships and adversities in his life to become a world famous athlete. He has been called the Blade Runner because of his lightning fast speed on the track. Oscar doesnt look like other Olympic athletes, but through hard work he has gained the respect of the world. He appeared in Time Magazines annual list of the worlds most influential people. He has also accepted sponsorship deals with Nike, Oakley and has been a model for a mens cologne. He proves that everyone has gifts and talents to share. Once in an interview when Oscar was asked about how his disability affects his life, he responded Youre not disabled by the disabilities you have, you are able by the abilities you have.14Oprah Winfrey

While on the air, Oprahs audience watched as she struggled to maintain a healthy weight. Many of her shows were dedicated to sharing with viewers how they could live a healthy life. Oprahs weight did not deter her from making a difference in the world. Afterfilming a special in South Africa, Oprah established a leadership Academy for Girls in Johannesburg, which provided an education for girls. Oprah is well known for being a plus-size actress and she created her on TV network after retiring from her daily talk show. Oprah is the highest paid performer in America.
