definitely a
hit with the
kids. Lion
Peggy won
a pair of
diamond earrings in the raffle—really pretty. Many
nice raffle prizes were given out. But, the biggest
joy was the kids! There were 55 Build-A-Bear hous-
es and stuffed animal given out!
The weather, although a little windy, was perfect!
The lake was gorgeous! The food was plentiful and
the happiness
and smiles were
abundant.

Lions John Downs & Steve Ball have been
battling serious illnesses for quite awhile.
Please keep these Lions members in your

Lion Irene Dani has been ill recently, as re-
ported by her daughter, Lion Linda, and
would really appreciate cards and prayers
for her speedy recovery! Hurry up and get
well Irene!
Lion Joni Patterson and Lion Dave Thomas
recently lost a family member. Let’s keep
them in our prayers and send them our well
wishes to help ease the pain of their loss.

WE DID IT!!!! After over 5
years of event contributions,
fund raisers, parking dona-
tion, member donations,
grants, bar donations, and a
lot of dirt and sweat, our
new playground equipment
is up and ready for use. We
had some hiccups during
the past few weeks, but the
labor crew was awesome
and my HEART-FELT

MINUTES—GENERAL MEETING
MAY 1, 2014
Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by President Lion
Kim Hall. The Pledge was lead by Shawn—Prayer lead
by Lion Roberta Halcomb and Song lead by Lion Susie
Trundy. There were 33 members present with 6 guests
introduced.
What a special treat for the membership this evening
with the visit by Lion Bill Rocher along with his daugh-
ter, Billie, and Son-in-law Tom. The members and
guests gave a standing ovation for Lion Bill which
brought tears to a lot of eyes. It was so good to share
an evening with our long time friend & his family.
Lion Mike Fitzgerald introduced his guest, Tom Moser,
a prospective new member. Lion Peggy Sparks intro-
duced her guest, Bettie Johnson, who was being rein-
stated as a member later in the meeting by Lion Paul
Halcomb! Welcome back Bettie!
Lion Tamer, Lion Sheri Vess gave out more raffle tickets
for her project, which will end soon. The drawing for
the prize will held at the meeting when the new offic-
ers are inducted. Make sure you bring all your collect-
ed items to the meetings.
President Kim announced dinner being served by the
Loma Rica Lioness and thanked them for their wonder-
ful cooking for the membership.
Lion Jean-Marie gave a report on the Mother’s Day
Champagne Buffet. The tickets are almost gone, so if
you want to come, better get with it.
Lion Mary Burnett gave information about the upcom-
ing Lions Game Day to be held on Saturday, May 3rd.
More volunteers are needed to help BBQ and Bartend
for the event. This is a thank you to all the workers,
volunteers and friends that help out so much at all our
events. Hamburgers and Hot Dogs furnished by the
Bar and please bring a side dish to share. Bar opens at
12:00 pm.
Lion Susie told us that Wild Hog Glory Days will be held
on June 7, 2014. A committee meeting will be held
next Thursday, May 8th at 6:00 pm. All welcome and
volunteers are needed.
Lion Susie told us the new playground equipment will
be delivered soon and should be all set up and ready to
go by Wild Hog Glory Days.
Lion Gary Simkins thanked the members who helped
with the work crew duties and thanked Lion Susie for
all her help.
Lion Cindi told us the first committee meeting for the
Veteran’s Day celebration will be on May 12th at 6:00
pm.
Lion Sheri gave an update on the Cow Pasture Golf
Tournament (for Lion Gerry Farrell). There will be 3 or
4 members per team. Sponsorships are $25.00. Re-
quests for raffle prizes for the tournament.
Lion Sheri said the Linda Lions Club/Yuba College Car
Show will be on Saturday, May 3rd. The show starts at
8:00 am and the registration is $10.00 and admission
fee is $10.00. The show starts at the old Meryvn’s
parking lot. Lots of food will be available and their will
be raffle prizes. Applications are in the bar.
Lion Sheri announced that she will not be the chairman
for the September car show next year. She and Lion
Kenn are going to travel next year. Volunteers will be
needed for this year’s show and Lion Linda Saala will
be cooking breakfast! Lion Sheri asked Debbie Burlin-
game and Duane & Peggy Taylor to take over for next
year.
Lion Peggy Sparks talked about the upcoming C.A.S.T.
for kids which will be on Saturday, May 10th at Collins
Lake. Lion Peggy told us that each child will receive a
“Build-A-Bear” stuffed animal which was donated by
Lion Peggy and Lion Jerry. Lion Debbie B. asked that
anyone who has a boat and wants to help in this
worthwhile project to contact the chairman of the
event. Info in the Bar!
Lion Mike announced that the “Galliano Night” hosted
by Lion Jean-Marie was a big success and all the Galli-
ano is now gone! Also that every 6th Tuesday drinks
are FREE! HaHa!
Lion Paul Halcomb performed the reinstatement of our
Lion Bettie Johnson. Lion Bettie wore her husband Rog-
er Johnson’s vest in his honor for the ceremony!

Minutes Continued!
Lion Chris Beerman thanked the Lions Club for the use of
the facilities for the spaghetti feed on April 12th for the
CYC. There was a good turn out for the spaghetti feed
and they made a $950 profit to assist the young foster
kids to attend the leadership conference later this sum-
mer.
President Kim read the correspondence and thank you’s
A card was read from the Foothill School for the $500
donation towards the new stage. The new stage will be
ready for the graduation ceremonies!
New Business:
Lion Debbie Burlingame announced the car show spon-
sored by the Automotive Academy to be held on May
17th. Lion Debbie’s son, Trevor, is involved in this activi-
ty. The show will be in Marysville and the cost is $15.00.
Please call Lion Debbie for more information.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Lion Delores Simkins in
the amount of $27.00
President Kim announced there would be a short board
meeting after closure of the General Meeting. All board
members present, please attend.

Lion Peggy. Motion carried—adjourned at 8:35 pm.

the Lions membership
greeted long-time Lion
Bill Rocher and his
daughter, Billie and son-
in-law, Tom Lundgren.
With many tears, smiles
and lots of laughter, we
enjoyed the visit almost
as much as Lion Bill. He promised to come back and not
be a stranger. Lions Bettie Johnson and Colleen Kelly
shared a hug with our long-time friend.
Let’s hope he keeping coming to the meetings!!!!!!

5-22-14
Meeting brought to order @ 6:07 PM
BOD members present: Gertie, Gary S., Mike F., Jean Ma-
rie, Janet, Linda, Kim, Susie, Sheri, Paul, Roberta, Paul,
Rhonda Guest: John Zurflueh from Starbright Entertain-
ment
John Z. proposes concert venue partnership with our Li-
ons Club. Currently has put on concerts in Grass Valley,
Chico, Paradise, etc. Mostly Tribute Bands such as James
Garner Johhny Cash Tribute Band. Draws a good crowd (is
playing Colusa Casino in Sept) John would pay $500 to
club and club would get all bar concession and food con-
cession if we choose to do the food ourselves. Starbright
gets ticket sales. Could possibly donate $$ to Lions if
things go extremely well. Starbrightshows.com Motion
to pursue venue by Mike, 2nd Gary Motion passed.
Foothill Intermediate School asked Lions if we could up
our scholarship for Citizenship from 10 to 11 students as
they really could not leave out this 11th student. $50.00
per student, Lions pay 5 and Lioness pay 5. Motion by
Sheri to increase number of scholarships as needed, 2nd
Gertie; Motion passed.
Lion Rhonda gave update on BVPO celebration to be held
May 31. Mentioned that she had Porta Potties, cost
around $50. This conversation led to Linda stating that
The $189.20 that came out of the bathroom fund for port-
able toilet @ March Crab feed should be reversed into
bathroom remodel account. Needless to say, there was
quite a discussion, Linda’s temper flared , refused any
motion to return money at that point. (Principals are
costly, but this chairperson Linda Saala, will pay for the
remaining project by other means than this BOD.) Fund-
raiser to follow; sorry A team, I’ve got us into more work!

tickets from American Legion but no takers. So she fined every-

Lion Sheri reporting on Cow Pasture Golf as Lions Ralph and Ger-
ry F. are traveling; Sponsor a flag, $25.00. $25.00 per person, 4
person teams.
Lion Jean Marie reported on Mothers Day event----IT’S DONE!!!!
Lion Mike F. announced that bar would be open for the Preak-
ness @3:30, stew would be served, pool table open. Also men-
tioned that he has NEVER forgotten that it was Linda Lions that
stole our banner a few years ago. Watch them closely……………
Lion Susie---New playground equip should be in by WHGD. Also
announced that SHARES CARDS REWARDS were $89.73. New
Lion Carol Cecil is the new newspaper clipper person.
Lion Gertie was contacted by Dobbins School about their END OF
SCHOOL PARTY. Motion to donated $100 to the party fund by
Lion Joni, 2nd Lion Sheri, motion passed.
May 31 is BVPO 150 year anniversary celebration. Lion Rhonda
gave details 10 AM to 2 PM Fun day for all.
Lion Roberta to judge 8th grade Foothill Intermediate Speech
Contest. 5-22-14 @ 10:50 AM
Lion Peggy S.: 55 kids attended CAST for Kids and Peggy won the
diamond earrings.
