Another busy week at school
WILSONS CREEK P.S. NEWSLETTER Term 4 Tuesday 20th November 2012 Week 7
looking at Monday 10 December. As soon as I receive more details, I will let you know.
Mrs. Lonard and I will be invi ng Module 1 students to travel with us to Byron Bay to explore a Dolphin Dreaming excursion. Notes will be sent out in the coming week. The date of this excursion is planned for Wednesday 12 December.
In closing
I am really enjoying this year! The school term is zooming past. I am looking forward to seeing the students’ presenta ons at the End of Year Assembly and Celebra on of Giving. You will be receiving more informa on in the coming weeks about the Giving Tree and our plans to celebrate this.
The Canteen opening and celebra on of our achievements will be held on the 30th November. Students will be performing some musical items as part of this celebra on. We have combined the Music Performance with the Opening to ensure that families do not have to travel to school on two separate occasions.
The P and C and school have worked hard to create the new Canteen and learning space. This learning space will be a huge benefit to students in the future. I would like to note that the P and C does not have any plans to overtake the Community Hall fundraising efforts. In fact, it has been suggested that the P and C and the Hall commi ee meet in the near future to map out a plan to ensure we do not cross over with fundraising efforts. I would suggest that a strong community and a commi ed P and C could work together to the benefit of all.
Have a great week!
Principal
Dear Families of Wilsons Creek,
The Community Day of Ac on to be held in Lismore last Sunday was postponed due to the poor weather. I will advise you of the re‐scheduled date. If you happened to see any of the coverage on the news, the rallies that were held around the state were well a ended. Please do not be relaxed about the massive cuts of $1.7b to Educa on. Without a vocal and consistent community based ac on, the Government will not understand these cuts will impact on our school!
Have you taken ac on yet? Our children need your support and voice.
1. Thank you to the Families and Valley residents for a ending the Council briefing last night. I will add any updates to the school website and newsle er as I receive them.
2. Thank you to our P and C for preparing and selling some delicious cakes, samosa and soup. The Bush Tea was a hit!
The Wilsons Creek Hall is having an Xmas Market on Saturday 15 December from 8:00am to 1:00pm. There will be some great bargains for sale, a ending the market is a great way to support our Community Hall.
Around the Modules
The Year 6 students have returned from their trip to Sydney. I was very pleased with the posi ve behavior and a tude that your children demonstrated. The train trip was long, the walking around Sydney was fun and the zoo was excellent. Well done Year 6!
Year 5 students and families will be invited to school next Tuesday 27th November to re‐cap and finalise any details for their excursion. The Mee ng will commence at 3.45pm and will conclude at 4.30pm. I urge you to a end.
I am exploring a few op ons for our planned Module 2 excursion to Brisbane. At this stage I am
