WiW 2017Conference Programme

Making Change Happen

I never thought that when I set up WiW last year that it would grow as fast as it has. This year’s event is 50% bigger than 2016 and we are also joined for the first time by a few of our male friends and colleagues, who play a crucial role in supporting our ambitions.

So why are we here? We know that a good gender mix at all levels has shown to have a positive impact on business and profits. More people are starting to wake up to it but in wholesale our challenge has been how to respond.

That’s why earlier this year, we launched the WiW Report backed by exclusive HIM data which outlined the barriers for development and six actionable steps needed to move forward.

You will learn today the huge developments we are already making but we still have a way to go.

What’s Coming Up…

Today’s programme will address some of the key themes in the report, covering everything from flexible working in wholesale and how to lead inclusively to the essential habits of networking and how to develop attractive career paths.

Whatever career and role we’re in, the ability to negotiate is critical, which is why I’m thrilled to have top global negotiator Janet Standing on the programme, kindly sponsored by FWD, whose advice has helped to seal multi-million deals with the biggest FMCG brands.

Inspiring, supporting and progressing women is just the beginning of WiW’s objectives. For many years, wholesale has suffered an image crisis. Supporting a better mix of talent at all levels can only lead to great things. If you take one thing away from today and act on it, the future is already looking better.

Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters - today would not be possible without you.
