RULES

1. Read the clues and look for the word, if found, circle the word using a pencil (10 different coloured pencils are recommended)2. Words can go left to right horizontally, down vertically and diagonally left to right 3. Words cannot go backwards horizontally, vertically and diagonally4. Tick off the clues as the words are discovered with coloured pencil used to circle the word(makes life easier)5. The number in brackets after the clue indicates the length of the word matching the clue6. British English spelling rules apply strictly (except for rule 15 and 16)7. There are no abbreviations, plurals, proper nouns, conjunctions, prepositions and must not be accounted for even if circled8. The minimum length for a qualified word is 2 characters 9. The puzzle should be completed in 30 minutes or less to score maximum points, however the specified time limit is 60 minutes10. Should the puzzle be completed within 30 minutes, 30 extra points are awarded if all the answers are correct11. 1 point is awarded against the specified word deduced from the clue given12. In the case of all clues being matched with the associated word in 29 minutes or less, for each whole minute under 30 minutes one should tally an extra point, partial minutes do not

qualify as extra points13. Certain words have more than one instance, circle as many of the same word as possible for extra points14. All other words that satisfy rule 7 and 8 should be noted, each distinct word shall tally 1 extra point15. The authors identity is contained in the puzzle but no clue is given specifically except for all the clues below (7 character pseudonym - thinking outside the box – does not adhere to

British English spelling and is an anglicised phonetic derivative of a Japanese term meaning ‘method of’ and ‘way of’) 16. The circling of the authors identity, upon completion of the puzzle, regardless of whether the 30 minute time is adhered to, is awarded 20 extra points

DISQUALIFICATION CRITERIA

1. The puzzle has a maximum time limit of 60 minutes and should this be exceed the participant is disqualified and should be re-assessed using a different tool.2. The participant must not ‘pre-circle’ the words, as this is would compromise the validity of the results, therefore is grounds for disqualification.3. The participant cannot receive any help from any external sources.4. The puzzle must be done under supervision of the qualified psychologist (the assessor) whom will determine the score – foregoing these criteria is grounds for disqualification.5. The participant may not view the sheets marked For Assessors Use Only
