GUIDELINES FOR INDEPENDENT SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
I. Social Case Study (10 Community Service Hours)
A social case study is one of the research methods applied in social science in a
qualitative form (literature review). This method monitors social phenomena, social life,
social transformations, and social issues in accordance with the existing sustainable
development goals (SDG’s) in Indonesia. The composition is done descriptively using
various approaches, including social observations and a collection of data associated
with the present social issues. This writing process aims to increase the overall
understanding of social issues as well as offers a multitude of ideas capable of becoming
the prime solution for the society.
This project can be done individually or in a group (1 group can only hold up to 3
members, max). Each university student can earn a maximum of 10 comserv hours.
Terms and conditions:
a. The file should consist of 5 – 10 pages with the A4 paper format.
b. APA Style should be adopted as the writing format.
c. Left, right, top, and bottom margins should be set to 3 cm. Line spacing should be
adjusted to 1.5. Typing in the font Times New Roman, 12-point size is mandatory.
Italics are used specifically for pointing out foreign terms, clarifying certain terms,
and for citing book or journal titles. Bold letters are used for emphasizing certain
terms and section titles or subtitles.
d. The scope of content should include:

Section 3: Research Methodology (Literature Review)
Section 4: Analysis and Solutions
Section 5: Conclusion
References or Bibliography
e. The cover should show the authors’ full names, student ID numbers, majors, and TFI
logo.
f. It is mandatory to submit a detailed proposal and get approval from TFI beforehand,
with its content comprising:

ABSTRACT
Kajian literatur menunjukkan bahwa penyandang disabilitas sangat rentan menjadi miskin
karena terdapat kendala the earning handicap dan the conversion handicap (Sen, 2009).
Dengan menggunakan data SUSENAS 2012 triwulan 3, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk
mengetahui pengaruh disabilitas yang disandang oleh kepala keluarga terhadap status
kemiskinan dan indeks kedalaman kemiskinan rumah tangga. Dengan mengaplikasikan
metode regresi logistik dan tobit, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa secara statistik rumah
tangga dengan kepala rumah tangga penyandang disabilitas cenderung lebih miskin dan
memiliki indeks kedalaman kemiskinan yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan rumah
tangga dengan kepala rumah tangga bukan penyandang disabilitas. Secara lebih rinci,
kepala rumah tangga penyandang disabilitas pendengaran atau komunikasi serta gangguan
mengurus diri sendiri memiliki kecenderungan lebih miskin dibandingkan dengan rumah
tangga dengan kepala rumah tangga penyandang disabilitas lainnya. Berbeda dengan
penyandang cacat lainnya, penyandang disabilitas penglihatan cenderung tidak miskin. Jika
dilihat dari penyebab disabilitas, penyandang disabilitas sejak lahir cenderung lebih miskin
dibandingkan dengan penyandang disabilitas dengan penyebab lainnya. Berdasarkan hasil
penelitian, studi ini menyarankan adanya dua kebijakan bagi pengentasan kemiskinan
penyandang disabilitas. Pertama, kebijakan untuk mengatasi kemiskinan penyandang
disabilitas dilakukan dengan penyediaan alat bantu dan pengadaan program inclusive society
bagi penyandang disabilitas. Kedua, kebijakan preventif untuk mencegah kemiskinan
penyandang disabilitas yang lebih tinggi dilakukan dengan pencegahan disabilitas bawaan
sejak lahir melalui intervensi prenatal. Kata kunci : Disabilitas, kemiskinan, Indonesia.
Abstract
Literature shows that people with disabilities are prone to be poor due to coupling of
disadvantages, which are the earning handicap and the conversion handicap (Sen, 2009).
Using third quarter of SUSENAS 2012 data, this study intends to examine the effect of
disability held by household head on poverty status and poverty gap index. By applying
logistic and tobit regression method, this research discovers that disabled headed
households are more likely to become poor and have higher poverty gap index compared to
other households. Going further into details, disabled household heads who experience
hearing or communication problems and personal care problem tend to have poorer
households compared to other disabled headed households. In contrast to other types of
disability, disabled household heads with eye/vision problem tend not to be poor. With
our eyes turned into causes of disability, household heads with congenital disability are
more likely to be poorer than household heads whose disabilities are caused by other
factors. This study suggest two policy recommendations in order to eradicate poverty of
people with disabilities. Firstly, policy to overcome poverty problem of people with
disabilities can be implemented by providing disability equipment and supporting
inclusive society for people with disabilities. Secondly, preventive policy to hamper
development of poverty of disabled people should be done by preventing disabilities at
birth through prenatal intervention.

BAB I PENDAHULUAN
1.1 Latar Belakang
Pada bagian ini berisi latar belakang, terkait apa yang akan dibahas dalam
penulisan ini. Latar belakang perlu mencakupi setidaknya contoh permasalahan social,
perubahan social atau isu social lainnya yang akan dibahas oleh penulis. Sumber bacaan
atau referensi dapat didapatkan melalui artikel, jurnal ilmiah, kanal berita dan lain
sebagainya.
1.2 Rumusan masalah
Bagian ini berisikan perumusan masalah yang akan dibahas secara terperinci
berdasarkan pembahasan di latar belakang, dan menentukan arah penulisan social case
study ini.

Berisikan penjabaran tujuan khusus dan tujuan umum dari ditulisnya social case study
ini.
BAB II LANDASAN TEORI
2.1 Tinjauan Teori Social Case Study
• Landasan teori berisi penjelasan mengenai variabel yang digunakan di dalam
social case study
• Judul bab dapat disesuaikan dengan teori yang dipakai dalam social case study.
• Hipotesis yang digunakan harus dilandaskan dari sebuah kerangka pikir
• Unsur kebaruan (novelty) referensi acuan juga harus dipertimbangkan. Referensi
acuan berupa textbooks dan minimum 3 (tiga) artikel ilmiah yang diterbitkan 10
tahun terakhir. Literatur yang dimaksud adalah artikel ilmiah di
jurnal/prosiding/kritik dari suatu karya.
BAB III METODE SOCIAL CASE STUDY
3.1 Metode Social Case Study
Bab ini membahas tentang bagaimana cara penulis mendapatkan data, menganalisis
serta mendapatkan jawaban pada rumusan masalah social case study ini. Misalnya,
metode penelitian menggunakan studi pustaka dan penjelasan menggunakan deskriptif
dan lain-lain.
BAB IV HASIL SOCIAL CASE STUDY, ANALISA, DAN SOLUSI
4.1 Hasil Social Case Study
Penjelasan singkat dari permasalahan yang dibahas.
4.2 Analisa
Pada bagian ini membahas tentang hasil dari social case study yang dibahas serta
keterkaitan antara permasalahan dan teori yang dipakai. Sehingga mendapatkan titik
point inti dari permasalahan itu berada.
4.3 Solusi
Berdasarkan hasil Analisa, bagian ini merupakan point penting yang membahas terkait
bagaimana cara proses penyelesaian permasalahan tersebut. Pada bagian ini penulis
menyusun rancangan program yang berkelanjutan, dengan format sebagai berikut:

Terms and Conditions:
a. Every university student or group should submit 1 poster design under any of
the given themes.
b. University students are required to submit an activity proposal that can be
downloaded from student.binus.ac.id -> home -> voluntary -> community
service guide -> mekanisme pemenuhan community service hours
c. The created poster should have a high resolution and be submitted in a .pdf
format.
d. The poster should be the size of A3 paper.
e. The TFI logo must be placed in the leftmost top corner of the poster.
f. The created poster must not involve SARA or contain elements contradictory to
moral values.
g. The submitted poster should be a fresh work, original, and free of copyright
infringement or piracy.
h. Only two languages are allowed, Indonesian and English.
i. Every university student or group can submit up to 2 posters but under different
themes.
j. The project has a deadline of 2 weeks after the proposal and drafted design
(sketch) are approved.
k. The work revision/correction is limited to 3 times.

i. The created video must fulfill the following conditions:
o The TFI logo should be shown at the start of the video.
o The video should show the creators’ names, student ID numbers, and majors
after showing the logo.
o University students are obliged to wear their alma mater suits.
o The video must not contain SARA.
o The digital content must be original and not just a mere editing of the existing
ones (plagiarism is prohibited).
o Attach references at the end of the video (if any).

a. Project themes:
