STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT Am I waiting for the “right” time to become a good steward? Do I

plan to share my time and talents “later”? Today’s Gospel warns

those who are procrastinating about stewardship to be prepared – “at

an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will. come”

Nurses Notes:

The Magic of Ginger

In Western cuisine, ginger is traditionally used mainly in

sweet foods such as ginger ale, gingerbread, ginger snaps, par-

kin, ginger biscuits and speculoos. A ginger-flavored liqueur

called Canton is produced in Jarnac, France. Green ginger

wine is a ginger-flavored wine produced in the United King-

dom, traditionally sold in a green glass bottle. Ginger is also

used as a spice added to hot coffee and tea. But there is more

to ginger than you think.

Health benefits of ginger

Great for stomach ailments: Ginger works wonders if you

are suffering from stomach ailments like stomach

upsets, diarrhea, nausea, motion sickness and gas. It

is also great for nausea and vomiting after surgery.

Treating coughs: Adraki chai is a common household

remedy for cough. But apart from cough, ginger is

also good for those suffering from bronchitis and

respiratory tract infections.

Helps in relieving muscle pain: If you exercise regularly,

you must be familiar with muscle aches. Chewing on

ginger regularly can help you! Ginger is known to

have anti-inflammatory properties, which help in eas-

ing those persistent aches.

Reduces risk of cancer: Preliminary studies show that

eating ginger regularly cuts down risk of colon and

ovarian cancer. Research showed, that ginger elimi-

nates cancer cells while keeping the surrounding

healthy cells alive.

Rich in antioxidants: Ginger is power-packed with antiox-

idants that help prevent Alzheimer’s and cardiovascu-

lar conditions.

Lowers diabetes: Gingerol, the compound which gives

ginger its distinctive pungent smell is known to ease

diabetes, as it enhances insulin secretion. However,

you must check with your doctor before making any

changes to your diabetic diet.

Lowers cholesterol: Some studies have shown that ginger

lowers cholesterol levels significantly and reduces

blood clotting.

Treats burns: Pouring fresh ginger juice on the afflicted

area helps in treating minor burns.

Next Week: Caution while using too much ginger

WEEKLY OFFERING

In the past the parish would publish the weekly offerings and com-

pare them to a budgeted amount, based on “Fair Share Offerings.”

The publishing of this information was discontinued at the recom-

mendation of the Diocese due to a number of burglaries that have

occurred at some parishes in the Diocese.

Your weekly offerings are very important to the parish in order to

meet our operational responsibilities. We ask that each parishioner

continue to prayerfully consider a consistent offering that will as-

sist in meeting those responsibilities

Your generosity is your return to the Lord for his goodness to you.

Make an investment in the reign of God today!

PENSAMIENTO ADMINISTRATIVO

SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING It is our parish site’s year to retrain on Safe Environment for

Children Procedures. All parish volunteers and employees

must update their training by attending a Safe Environment

for Children training class or take the training online at

www.shieldthevulnerable.org . For the on-line course, please

print your Certificate of Completion and turn it in to the par-

ish office. Also, an $8 donation would be helpful to cover the

cost of the training.

For those who cannot take the training on-line, there will be a

Safe Environment training session offered at St. Anne on

Thursday, October 17th at 7:00PM in Room 2 and other par-

ishes throughout the Diocese. Please continue to check the

bulletin or our website (www.stannechurchbyron.com) for
