Writing for Life www.helenstockton.co.uk Course information sheet Course Code WfL WW/15 Writing Workshop Course information One Saturday per month – dates on application Five Ashes Village Hall, Five Ashes, Mayfield TN20 6HR 10:30am-1.30pm £25 per session About the course This is an opportunity for committed writers to give and receive a carefully considered critique of writing, troubleshoot problems or issues, and advance their writing skills through collective writing exercises. Who is the Course for? These workshops are for experienced writers, usually those who’ve attended previous writing courses and who have demonstrated the necessary high-level critiquing skills. Writers will be engaged regularly in writing, often pursuing long term writing projects, and wish to have the support of other, similarly committed writers. Membership of the group is by invitation, in order to maintain the constructive and supportive environment that has been established and the first session will be on a trial basis for both parties. Course Content Writers will submit an extract of their writing, by email, at least a week before the session. Extracts must not exceed 1000 words (roughly two pages). These will be circulated to all group members for them to read and critique. Writers will be asked to submit suggestions for aspects of writing to workshop, a week before the session. Each writer will be given an equal time-slot devoted exclusively to their writing. There will be a short workshop on an aspect of writing suggested by the group. Targets will be set by each writer and reviewed at each session. How to apply Please complete and return the membership application outlining your experience in writing and critiquing and why you wish to join the group. e-mail – [email protected] Mobile - 07784538965 Refreshments Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
