Going in the Deep End (Starting the Plan)

1. Get out 4 pieces of notebook paper2. Write out the headings for your report on a separate sheet of paper (1 heading/page)3. Fill in your own thoughts underneath4. Tape or rewrite notes onto that page

CHARTS and GRAPHS

• Use with anything that is numbered – Cost– Student/teacher ration

• Use with anything visual – campus, – Location

• Use color and shading to separate material– Look at charts in the book for examples

OUTLINE ASSIGNMENT

• You now have a basic plan• You may want to redo it and make it neater or

haven’t created• Evaluation clear?—if not at this stage that’s

Paramedic Method—How to Write Clearly

1. Circle the prepositions2. Circle the forms of “is”: Is, am, am be, been3. As “who is kicking who?” (Subject verb)4. Put the “kicking” action in a simple active verb 5. Check your answer—count the number of

original words and then double check that you have fewer than you began with. (good to shoot for a minimum of ¼ shorter if not more while still retaining the meaning)
