DID

YOU KNOW?WVSO performances reach over 50,000 people each year throughout West Virginia. In addition to our orchestra performances and concert series, the WVSO also presents a wide-array of programs and initiatives including:

Young People’s ConcertsWVSO’s Young People’s Concerts reach over 13,000 students each year with programs designed to combine a live orchestral experience and core student learning. Programs are performed for grades K-12 with cross-curricular lessons that have been aligned with national, WV, OH and KY educational standards. Resources are provided prior to the concert allowing teachers to integrate music with subjects such as language arts, math and science. Stories like the Three Little Pigs and Rumpelstiltzkin come alive for students to learn and enjoy.

Kanawha County String Education ProgramThe WVSO in partnership with Kanawha County Schools, now employs a total of six full-time string educators who play in the orchestra and teach in the Kanawha County Schools string program. They provide string/orchestral training for students in 3 high schools, 6 middle schools, and 19 elementary schools.

Students that participate in this program, as well as those from area youth symphonies, receive free tickets to WVSO concerts.

State-Wide Touring and Performance PartnersThe WVSO’s statewide touring program brings live classical music to communities throughout the state. The program is recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts as a model program in creating direct access to the performing arts in underserved areas. In addition to touring concerts, the WVSO performs annually through partnerships in Parkersburg, Fairmont, Beckley, Institute, Hurricane and Lewisburg.

Andrew & Amy Vaughan Student Symphonic FellowshipThis program develops and encourages West Virginia high school students who actively study music to explore professional careers related to a music discipline. Students also take part in study sessions before and during rehearsals to learn about the works performed and classical music performance in greater detail.

Montclaire String Quartet ResidenciesThe award-winning Montclaire String Quartet is the resident chamber ensemble of the WVSO. Members of the Quartet serve as the principal string players for the orchestra. The Quartet also engages students by traveling throughout the state performing up to 68 concerts and demonstrations each year in addition to their recital series.

ORDERING TICKETS IS EASY!

SUPPORT THE ANNUAL SUSTAINING FUND

For more information on the WVSO and its programs, visit www.wvsymphony.org.

The WVSO’s Annual Sustaining Fund is so named because it sustains the Symphony; indeed, it provides funds to support the Orchestra’s daily operations that ticket revenue alone cannot cover. This includes everything from our musicians’ salaries and statewide tours to free tickets for students and funding for our nationally recognized education programs. Your support is vital to our success!

Now is your opportunity to impact thousands of West Virginia’s residents and students by making a gift to our annual campaign. Add your gift on the subscription order form or go to www.wvsymphony.org and click the “Donate” button and join our donor family today.

Thank you for your support of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra!

By phone: Call the box office at 304-561-3570. By mail: Complete the order form and return it with your payment to: WVSO, attn: Season Ticket Orders, PO Box 2292, Charleston, WV 25328.

By fax: Simply fax the order form to 304-347-3630.

Subscribe online at www.wvsymphony.org

In person: Visit the Clay Center’s Robert & Lena Shell Customer Care Center Monday - Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. • Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Sunday: 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ticket ReturnsIf you are unable to attend a concert, we urge you to return your tickets to us, so that they can be made available to another patron. We will mail you a tax-deductible contribution receipt for tickets returned by noon on the performance date.

We call tickets returned in this way “angel tickets” because they allow someone to attend the Symphony who might not otherwise have the chance. So be an angel, and if you realize you will not be able to use your tickets for a given concert, return the tickets in person or by mail (WVSO, attn: Angel Tickets, PO Box 2292, Charleston, WV 25328).

Ticket ExchangesSubscribers may exchange tickets for Symphonic and Pops series performances into any other concert within the same series. Tickets must be exchanged at least 24 hours prior to the concert for which you have tickets.
