Part Time Preschool - Last week we ended our Fall Theme with a Thanksgiving feast on Wednesday.

The children dressed up ready for Thanksgiving dinner and the parents joined us. The children enjoyed

sharing this time with family and friends. This month we will be studying “Children around the World”

and we will be focusing on different cultures and their clothing. Every week we will be focusing on

different traditions. This week we are introducing Kwanza. As for the rest of the week we are focusing on

the letters W, Z, X, Q, the color green, and the shape pentagon. The children are counting 1-9. We will

be working on lacing, zipping and counting buttons. On Friday, it is Color of the Week Day. The children

will be wearing green. We will continue to learn about fruits and vegetables as we focus on new foods

around the world. Next week we will be focusing on two new cultures and continue learning about

clothing.

SCHOOL AGE - We will be celebrating the holiday season with studying the “Christmas tree.” We will be

creating books on the different styles of Christmas trees. Our crafts will be including tree paintings, tree

crafts, paper trees and a collage of outdoor items from nature. We will discuss stories about famous

trees and ask what traditions the kids have with buying their own Christmas trees.

Children will draw and write about items they can wear in the cold. What types

of things can be done in the cold weather? What type of food they eat or drink

in their weather forecast they saw or heard on TV the night before and make a poster about the different

forecasts.

Theme: Holidays and Different Cultures

This month we will have different Holidays of different cultures. This week we

will investigate how people celebrate Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. We will share

with the children that some people celebrate Kwanzaa from December 26 to January 1st. African traditions

are giving gifts away during Kwanzaa time; their gifts must always include a book to emphasize the

African tradition. We will also share with the kids when and what cultures celebrate Hanukkah, what kind

of food do they eat, how many days do they observe, and their traditions. Also we will make a Menorah

and Kwanzaa chain with construction paper. For Literacy we will have some articles with facts about

Kwanzaa and Hanukkah.

City Park Happy Holidays from City Park. Last week, we started our investigation about clothes.

Ms. Bousha talked about the different features on clothes such as button, zippers,

and Velcro. We practiced on our fastener boards. Ms. Marisa’s class talked about what

types of clothes we wear for different types of weather. They also painted with shoes

and gave the baby dolls a bath. This week, Ms. Bousha’s class will be talking about

the features of clothes. We will be doing activities that involving using clothespins to hang clothes up. Ms.
