STEP 1 Remove seat, shrouds, and fuel tank. Remove RH radiator grill/louver. Using a hacksaw or side cutters, cut the center tab off of the louver, leaving 1/16” (1-2mm) at the base of the tab. Mark the centerpoint of the tab using a punch, then drill through the tab base and louver at the punch mark using a 9/32” drill bit. Note: a 1”x4” board clamped to a table horizontally makes a good platform for punching and drilling as shown below. Clean up any burrs with a razor blade or deburring tool. You will have a 9/32” hole where the center retaining tab used to be, as shown in the pictures below. Install the supplied M6 clip nut on the center ear of the RH radiator as shown in picture below Step 3. Ensure the clip nut is aligned with the hole in the radiator ear, and the threaded side of the clip nut is facing inward. Loosen the inner RH radiator mounting bolt 2-2.5 turns. Note: If you unscrew the bolt too far you will not be able to get a wrench onto the bolt to tighten it once the fan kit is installed. Pull the rubber isolator away from the radiator ear, and slide the fan kit bracket between the radiator ear and the inside face of the rubber isolator. Push the fan kit bracket in towards radiator at a downward angle to clip the fan bracket over the rubber isolator and onto the radiator. Wiggle the rubber isolator to ensure it is fully installed in the fan bracket “C” notch. If it will not seat properly, loosen bolt an additional half turn and try again. Soapy water may be used as a lubricant if necessary, but do not use oil or grease. Unscrew bolt 2-2.5 turns. Installed clip nut. STEP 1

Remove seat, shrouds, and fuel tank.

Hold the upper and lower fan kit bracket mounting arms tight against the side of the radiator. Bolt the upper bracket mount to the center ear on the radiator finger tight. (Using the original lower radiator shroud bolt.) Hold lower bracket mount tight against lower radiator ear and ensure fan is sitting parallel to radiator with 1-2mm gap between fan and radiator fins. Loosen upper bracket mount bolt and adjust fan kit position if necessary. Once fan is sitting properly, tighten upper bracket mounting bolt.

Use an open ended wrench to tighten inner radiator mounting bolt (removing the gas tank makes this much easier). If you cannot get the wrench over the bolt head you may have unscrewed the bolt too far in step #3, or you may need a thinner wrench.

Press fin sensor into the radiator near the center above the fan kit. Carefully line up sensor parallel to fins to avoid damaging the fins during installation. TIP: To compensate for the influence of ambient air passing across the sensor, apply thermal grease (included in kit) into the gap between the fins of the radiator where the sensor will be installed. It is important to place the grease only in the gap. Grease on the surface of the radiator will attract dirt and reduce performance.

Starting at the battery box, route the fan kit wiring harness alongside the main bike harness and connect to battery and fan kit. Zip tie wires and connectors to keep them away from the exhaust pipe or moving parts. Reinstall radiator grill/louver, clipping the drilled hole in the louver over the back of the clip nut on the center radiator ear. Reinstall the fuel tank, seat, and shrouds, using the new, longer bolt included in the kit for the lower radiator shroud hole.

STEP 7

STEP 8

Remove bracket bolt from underside of radiator shroud mounting boss. Insert bolt through provided TTV bracket and reinstall.

Remove OEM bolt from here. Use OEM bolt to mount TTV mounting bracket here.

NOTE: Trail Tech cooling fan kit may not prevent overheating in all circumstances.
