Term 4 Week 6
Yamba Public School
RESPECT: LEARN IT, EARN IT, SHOW IT.
Dear Parents, Super News!! River Robinson has returned to Yamba after competing in the State Spelling Bee, where he placed 4th in the
state. What a fantastic effort! We are all very proud of you River.
Year 6 are off on their annual excursion to Canberra next week. I know that the trip will be memorable for them all. Thank you to the Year 6 teachers, Mrs. Hogan and Mr. Paul for giving up a week with your own families to give Yamba students this opportunity. Have a great time everyone. What a fantastic response we
have had the introduction of sun
safe hats. A new supply of school
hats have been ordered and
should arrive at any time now.
Thank you to all families who have
supported the departmental policy
in sending your child to school in a
sunsafe (and where possible-
school) hat.

Last Wednesday River
Robinson travelled to Sydney
to represent our school and
our region at the state final of
the Premier's Spelling Bee.
The group of 42 students in
the junior division was steadily
whittled away as they were
challenged with increasingly
difficult words. Soon it was
down to the final five, with
River still standing. River
finished the day by placing 4th
in the state! Congratulations on
this amazing achievement
River.
As part of River's prize for
winning the regional final in
Maclean, our school will receive
a 5 month school wide
subscription to the Macquarie
Dictionary & Thesaurus
Online. We will be activating
this subscription at the
beginning of Term 1, 2017 to
make the most of this
fantastic resource.

YPS CHOIRS AND GUITARISTS
The Yamba Public School choirs and guitarists have been invited to sing and play at the Yamba River markets on Sunday, 27th of November. This is an event that I have hosted for the last 3 years and I'm thrilled that I will get to showcase our choirs as well as our guitarists this year. Please mark it on your calendar and if somebody could organise some perfect weather, that would be great .The Yamba Public School choirs and guitarists will be performing from 9:00-9:45 am.
Please try to turn up at the big green marquee in the centre of the markets a few minutes early. I will have lyric booklets on hand and a few spare guitars for those who forget their own.
