Scholarship Overview
Yew Chung International School – Secondary (YCIS – Secondary) is a highly reputable and very well established international school in Hong Kong. The Secondary section is registered as a Private Independent School (PIS) and runs an extensive Scholarship programme. YCIS sets aside funds annually to be granted as scholarships and awards to students who demonstrate excellent academic achievement, high behavioural standards, a commitment to serve their school and community, excel in creativity, critical thinking skills, demonstrate leadership skills and team spirit.

Entry and Duration
YCIS seeks students (ages 11 to 17) who demonstrate talent and high ability in scholarship categories, with a commitment to serve their school and community.
Full or partial tuition fee exemption for the following from 2016-17:A YCIS-Secondary scholarship waivers partial or full tuition fees for the awarded student. A range of 25%, 50%, 75% or even up to 100% tuition fee discount can be granted; depending on the applicant’s ability and commitment (merit based).

Music Scholarship •Applicants are expected to have passed the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (or similar Examination Board) Grade 6 or above with Distinction (or an equivalent standard on Chinese Musical Instrument) on a principal instrument. Subsidiary instruments are not necessary, but if offered, will be taken into consideration in the final analysis.•Music Scholarships will be awarded to the students who display the best overall aptitude, willingness and eagerness to share and contribute to the musical culture of the school.•Please refer to the application form for Audition Requirements.

Art Scholarship •Demonstration of outstanding artwork with clear evidence of technical proficiency and distinctive personal aesthetics in the arts•Excellent grades in previous art courses and excellence in the practice of art•Commitment to take part in the art co-curricular activities and competitions organized by the school and outside organizations•Display of an overall aptitude, willingness and eagerness to share and contribute to the art culture of the school

Sports Scholarship •Present involvement in athletics or sports to a very competent level, with preference given to the all-around athlete•Demonstration of a strong emphasis on participation in athletics or sports programs and commitment to such activities in the co-curriculum•Excellent grades in previous Physical Education courses•Upon approval of scholarship, students must maintain a very high standard in PE classes•Good personal attitude, sportsmanship, enthusiasm and leadership skills

The Scholarship applicant and their parent(s) should make the online scholarship application via the South China Morning Post circulationhttp://www.educationpost.com.hk/campaign/ycis-scholarship
The following support documents within the online application. ID Documents:Copy of parent's and applicant’s Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card, or passport ID page and visa page. School Reports:Copy of two full academic years plus semester 1 (2015-16), when available.•Two teachers’ recommendation letters

For 2016 - 2017 entry, application is now openDeadline: 18 December 2015An email acknowledgement would be sent after Christmas & New Year holiday period, thank you for submission and checking of documentsAn invitation to the assessment and panel interview will take place early 2016We would inform parents of the scholarship progress within a month No application fee at this stage; should your child be shortlisted in gaining a scholarship, you would be required to complete the regular school online application which then requests the 1,000HK$ application fee.
