Statistics and Probability YouTube: Probability Scratch Garden I recommend starting from 2:35. Important vocabulary for this topic: Certain – an event that will 100% happen. For example: the sun will certainly rise tomorrow. Nothing can change the chance of that happening

Impossible – an event that will never happen. For example: it is impossible that my fish will grow legs and start to walk.

Work your way through the following chance activities and worksheets: Activity 1: Coin flip investigation Activity 2: Marble investigation Activity 3: Chance spinner Chance experiment – level 1 You will conduct a chance experiment and make a prediction on the outcome.

Page 13: Year 3 and 4 Week 2 - At Home Learning Overview

Likely – an event that is probably going to happen, although something might change this. For example: It is likely that I will go to the shops tomorrow. Unlikely – an event that is probably not going to happen, although something might change this. For example: it is unlikely that Miss Bennett will become a professional footballer. Complete the chance sorting activity. You will need scissors and a glue stick. Play “Eds and Dale’s Heads and Tails” chance board game with a partner.

For example: What is the chance of me pulling out a red jelly bean from a bucket of rainbow jelly beans? Chance experiment – level 2 You will conduct a chance experiment and present the outcome using data graphing techniques. Optional experiments/games can be found here
