The bullpen RHPs Ryan Mattheus and Steve Delabar- was solid, allowing just two hits and a walk in the final three innings. The Bats are now 3-0 in one-run games. HIT PARADE…NOT: LOU collected just three base-hits last night, and all of them were singles. In addition to Triunfel’s single, C Ramon Cabrera and CF Bryson Smith each had hits as well. The Bats only worked one walk, and that was LF Jesse Winker in the first inning. The three hits in a win were the fewest since 8/27/15 against IND, when the Bats won a 2-1 game collecting just three hits (1b Adam Duvall single, RF Juan Silva home run, PH Josciel Veras single). SELSKY ON-BASE STREAK: RF Steve Selsky went 0-for-3 last night, snapping his streak of reaching base in 17 games in a row at Louisville Slugger Field. IND’s 1B Josh Bell reached base in a game earlier today, tying Selsky’s mark. Selsky is now hitting .235 in nine games played this season, with a 4-for-19 (.211) mark at Louisville Slugger Field. He also has two runs scored and a pair of walks in five home games played. JOSH SMITH- CLIPPER SLAYER: RHP Josh Smith had a terrific start last night for the Bats. He earned his second win of the season, pitching six innings, allowing four hits and a walk, striking out three. He has pitched in two games against COL this season, and has not allowed an earned run. In those two starts, he has a 2-0 record in 11 innings pitched. He has allowed eight hits, an unearned run, and three walks. He has struck out eight. TRANSACTIONS: RHP Robert Stephenson was scheduled to start tonight’s game for the Bats, but Cincinnati recalled him earlier today to make his second Major League start at Great American Ball Park. RHP Keyvius Sampson, who was optioned to LOU on Sunday, will start instead. To make room on the Reds’ 25 man roster, RHP Jumbo Diaz was optioned to LOU, but is not active. SUCCESS AGAINST COLUMBUS: After winning just five games against COL all of last season, the Bats have already won three in 2016, with two more games against them this series. The Bats now own a 174-179 all-time record against COL. GET OUTTA HERE: LF Jesse Winker was ejected from last night’s game by Home Plate Umpire Joe Born. Winker appeared to be arguing about an automatic strike called against him after not stepping into the batter’s box in time. He is t he Bats’ first ejection of the season. Last season, there were eight LOU ejections- four players and four times Manager Delino DeShields was tossed. The last game that saw an ejection for LOU was 8/22/15 at GWN, when DeShields was ejected in the first inning, and then LF Adam Duvall was tossed in the eighth inning. DELABAR SAVES THE DAY: RHP Steve Delabar had runners on first and third with two outs last night, but induced a fly ball to center field to end the game. He picked up his first save of the season, and the 19 th in his Minor League career. In four games with the Bats, he has thrown four and one-third innings, allowing three hits and two runs, with both runs coming on 4/16 against TOL. Last night’s outing was the first time this season he did not record a strikeout. JER MAINE MAN: 3B Jermaine Curtis sits atop the International League with a .625 on-base percentage. He also holds the second best batting average in the league, with a .471 mark, trailing only Caleb Ramsey of SYR. His batting average is also the highest on the Bats, as are his six RBI, which is two clear of 1B Brandon Allen, 2B Carlos Triunfel, and LF Jesse Winker, who are all tied for second-most on the team. Finally, his eight hits are tied for fourth-best on the team. A QUICK TURNAROUND, BUT THE HOMESTAND CONTINUES: The Bats and Clippers finish out their three game series tomorrow morning at 11:05 a.m. It is the first of three morning games scheduled at Louisville Slugger Field this season. The other two are Wednesday, May 4 against NOR (11:05 a.m.) and Wednesday, June 15 against SYR (11:45 a.m.). The Bats will face IND for the first time this season when the Indians come to town Thursday for a three game set, finishing out this 10 game homestand.
