True to its mission to promote yesterday, today and tomorrow’s photographic talents, YellowKorner proposed the discovery or rediscovery of a new artist per week throughout the year. To tie in with the Christmas period, YellowKorner is inviting you to turn back to information and pictures about the work of photographers who have marked the year 2010. This selection is intended to be representative of YellowKorner’s artistic choices. Therefore, the selected artists personify photography from its origins to its most contemporary expression. It is indeed this iconographic and stylistic pluralism dear to YellowKorner that is offered to you here. Works of art by Man Ray, Atget or Dorothea Lange rub shoulders with the contemporary artists Olivier Föllmi and Rudd Peters, whilst the young genera- tion portrayed by Kourtney Roy, Alastair Magnaldo or Laurent Dequick is already flaunting its virtuosity. Paul-Antoine Briat and Alexandre de Metz, Foundeurs

Kusakabe Kimbei operated a studio in Yokohama from the early 1880s until 1913. Kusakabe Kimbei continued the tradition of the psychological studio portrait and recorded scenic views of the country while he developed his own Japanese sense of photography. Like postcards today, his work was collected by tourists and exported for sale as curiosities to those who could not visit Japan.

This 40 year old photographer is an architect by profession. There are signs of this in his work as it is first of all a reflection on contemporary cities and more specifically about the proli- feration of modern urban space. To translate this urban life “congestion” into an image, the photographer does not shy away from the juxtaposition, superposition or inlaying of shots.

Born in Versailles in 1969, Guillaume Gaudet developed a taste for travel and the discovery of new cultures during his childhood, which he spent living in several foreign countries. New York is his favoured playground, where he does not tire of photographing the smallest detail. Through light, architecture or a life scene, in each of his photos he tries to capture a small part of the city’s soul and energy.

He was a journalist (editor) for a few years and suddenly decided to drop it, to give his all to photography. Still with this taste for grainy photographs which developed almost a theory of the imperfection of the photo in him, he readily repeated, “A photographshouldn’t reveal everything, it should leave a little room for imagination”.

Emmanuel Rudzitsky, the future Man Ray, was born in 1890 in Philadelphia (USA). For Man Ray, the painter with modernist tendencies, photography became the means of expression of modern art par excellence. The technique replaced the notions of representation for the artist and the latter, free from these contingencies, was able to explore new means of expression.

Oliver Lavielle is a fan of the period between the ‘30s and the ‘70s. Untouched by the aesthetics of the period, his subjects are best expressed exclusively in black and white. These dynamic compositions are inspired by Hollywood style. As a private pilot, his aircraft photos express the intimate, special relationship that he has with his toys, as he likes to call them.

YellowKorner offers you art photographs in different mountings and formats. For each photograph, the framing is chosen in collaboration with the artist to optimize the display of their work.

QUALITY PRINTS

YellowKorner prints are Lambda prints on traditional paper, a technique used for the most prestigious exhibitions. It involves very good quality gelatin silver prints, the depiction, clarity and contrast of which are optimum in colour as well as in black and white. The reproduction technique, limited edition and numbering of the works of art, accompanied by an authenticity certificate are many guarantees of the uniqueness and work of art status of each photograph.

LIMITATION EDITION, NUMBERING

All YellowKorner photographs are limited edition and numbered, guaranteeing their unique character. All are numbered in a unique way and handwritten on the work of art and on the authenticity certificate. The prints limited to "X copies" are only available in this number of copies throughout the world. No future reprinting of the work of art will be made in this same format guaranteeing a low circulation of the work of art.

AUTHENTICITY CERTIFICATE

All the works of art are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity guaranteeing the origin and the limited edition of your work of art. A biography of the artist is attached to enhance your knowledge of the artist.

FORMAT And FInISH PAGE

Photograph beneath mat, provided in a 40 x 50 cm black aluminium frame. The name of the work of art, the artist and the print number are handwritten on the mat, guaranteeing its work of art status.

PRINT WITH FRAME 40x50

The photograph is fixed without overlap to a 3 mm thick polymer sheet which allows the rigidity of small-sized prints to be perfectly maintained. A hook allows it to be directly hung onto the wall.

MOUNTED POLYMERE PRINT

The photograph is fixed to a 3 mm thick aluminium sheet. A frame placed behind it permits it to stand 20 mm from the wall in order to create a gallery aesthetic in your interior.

ALUMINIUM MOUNTED PRINT

A 3 mm thick acrylic perspex sheet is added to the front of the photograph. Adhesion takes place through the reaction between two liquid components, without the use of glue. The protection of the print and the contrast of the colours are therefore enhanced.
