At ARC we have always encouraged people to be involved in planning and cre-

ating the supports that they need to live life as valued and included members

of the community.

The opportunity to Self Direct funding through “Your Life Your Choice” now

means that there is a framework for us all to work with, to make sure this hap-

pens in a way that best meets your needs, provides value for money, and op-

portunities which promote an inclusive and positive life for all community

members.

In this pack you will find information about the supports and opportunities

which ARC offers, as well as the ways in which we can help you to get the most

out of your funding.

In this pack you will find information about the supports and services which ARC offers.

You will also find information about how we can assist you to self direct through Hosting your package and working with you to purchase the supports and services you need.

Once you have read through the information and decided what level of assis-tance you would like to manage your funding, and the types of support you are interested in we can have a look together at what sort of package ARC can help you put together.

A page is provided for you to note the things which you like, aren’t sure about or don’t like, and a place for questions.

Self Directed Funding

It’s all about CHOICE………..

Choice: You can choose the support you get and where from.

Individual Budget: You know how much money you can use for your

support.

Self-Determination: You have the authority, support or representa-

tion to make your own decisions.

Accessibility: You can understand the rules and systems and are able to

get help easily.

Flexible Funding: You can use your money flexibly and creatively.

Accountability: You will tell people how you used your money.

The Self Directed Funding Framework

It’s about good planning and working together, with good two way com-munication.

Choice and control - You can choose the support you get and from where. Capacity - having the help you need to understand the rules and systems

and make decisions.

You can use your money flexibly and creatively.

Accountability -You will develop a plan and tell people how you used your money.

Peer support - having the opportunity to talk and share with others who are self directing funding.

Reasonable and necessary supports - that are planned to help you achieve positive outcomes.

You are supported and encouraged to maintain local networks and Com-munity connections.

You are supported and encouraged to use your support networks to help you make decisions to safeguard you.

Self - Directed Funding Consultancy

The ARC Self Directed Funding Consultancy offers people who have a disability, their families and support networks full opportunity to direct their supports and services to the extent which they are confident and comfortable.

We offer a range of options which can be utilised individually or together to build an individualised response for each person, plus “add ons” available on a user pays basis, which can provide specialist assistance or full service delivery.

Change between options is available, with support provided to develop skills to become more empowered with taking on more responsibility as confidence grows ensuring each person has the option to mix and match the type and level of assistance they require, to turn their package into the support they need.

The main service options are :

Host - you pay bills from a separate account

Host - ARC will pay a limited number of bills for you

Full service— we will organise all support at your direction.

Discussion with you about how your support may look and what you require will form the basis of negotiation to develop a plan for use of your funds.

ARC Self Directed Funding Consultancy—a person focused approach

with no more or less support than that which is required.

Self - Directed Funding Consultancy Costing

Initial Set up fee (one off) $600

Hosting of package 6% of funding

Annual Service fee (applicable after 1st year) $300

Individualised services individual quote based on requirements

HOSTING

The Host providers role is predominantly to assist you utilise the benefits

offered by “Your Life Your Choice” by acting as an intermediary or go-between

you and the funding body, which is the Department of Communities, Disability

Services.

We will negotiate an agreement with you which identifies what the roles and

responsibilities are for ARC as your host provider, and you as the person whose

package we are hosting.

Host in simple terms means that we will hold your funding and assist you to

purchase the supports and services which you identify as important for you.

As your host provider we will be the contact point for funding questions and

queries, and we will work with you to ensure all accountability requirements

are met back to the funding body.

HOST

With ARC as your Host Provider you will receive:

Set up of host arrangement

Development of written agreement

Auspice of funding package

Option of either having ARC hold your funds and pay regular invoices for

brokered services

OR

You open a separate bank account which ARC will pay your funds into on a

regular basis for you to pay your workers or service provider/s from.

Acquittal to Disability Services

CSTDA reporting

Negotiation with DS on your behalf

Quarterly reporting

3 monthly statements of expenditure

Access to ARC Resources and some basic training

Provision of information package detailing options and opportunities

Newsletters

Invitation to one off events

INDIVIDUALISED SERVICE OPTIONS

Facilitation—with ARC helping to facilitate your support you can expect:

Community linking and referral

Establishment and management of brokerage arrangements with identified agencies.

Assistance and/or advice on staff recruitment supervision and management if re-

quired.

Lifestyle Planning—with ARC assisting you to plan you can expect:

Assistance to identify your goals, dreams and aspirations.

Assistance to identify, plan and document your required supports, services and re-

sources.

Advice on local services and community options.

Administrative and specialist planning– options available include:

Human Resource Management and Administration

Staff recruitment, Staff training, Staff management

Back of Office support, Payroll

Behaviour Planning

Health Facilitation

Full service provision— all aspects of your package and provision of services

across a range of options would be managed by ARC.

Staff recruitment, supervision training and management

Payroll and associated administrative processes

Who Are We ?

ARC is a community based organisation with a long history in Cairns and The

Far North supporting children and adults who have a disability and their fami-

lies and support networks.

Established in 1976 by a group of parents with a vision for their children we

pride ourselves on being person focussed, friendly, flexible and fun!

Our Vision is that people who have a disability are empowered to reach their

full potential, dreams and aspirations, enabling them to enjoy a fulfilling life of

their choosing as valued members of the community.

We work collaboratively with our service users, their support networks and the

community to facilitate a range of options and opportunities which promote ac-

tive participation for all.

Our programs aim to provide parents, carers and family member with the tools

they need to assist their child or young person to develop to their full potential

whilst maintaining strong family relationships.

a developmental approach to family and early

Respite and Flexible Support Services

The ARC Respite Service tailors support to each individual and their family/

carer’s respite needs.

We provide services that are accommodating, responsive and creative which

may include a combination of :

In home support

Overnight residential respite

Community inclusion

Social and networking opportunities

School holiday support

Learning and Life Skills Program

ARC Learning and Life Skills Program aims to assist people develop skills for liv-

ing, learning and achieving, whilst having fun.

Developing confidence is key to many of our programs, which are individually

created with each person, to focus on working towards their dreams and aspi-

rations.

Support can be provided :

Individually (1:1)

group activities

Or a combination of both.

Learning and Life Skills Program Costing

Individual 1:1 support from $48 per hour

Half Day Group program $50 for 3hrs (9-12 or 12-3)

Full Day Group Program $100 for 6hrs (9-3)

ARC Bus transport (group) By negotiation

Individual Transport 1:1 $0.76c per km

in an extraordinary way, and learning is lifelong.

Lifestyle Support Service

ARC Lifestyle Support Service offers supported living, enabling people to live in their own

home in the community. Support is provided from a few hours per week to 24hrs per day,

depending on the person’s level of independence.

This is a holistic support option which assists the person to plan their whole of life activi-

ties, based on their identified dreams, aspirations and future plans. Each individual is

supported and empowered to pursue opportunities for:

Educational / vocational studies

Access leisure activities

Holidays

Develop and maintain independent living skills

Social skills

Increase community networks and connections
