JULY ISSUE 2019
On Another Note:
Church Library News:
*We have a bible study with DVD about Jonah by Priscilla Shirer:
Navigating a life interrupted. You can not escape life’s interruptions but you can
change your perspective on them.
*We also have the book, study guide and DVD of the Purpose Driven Life.
*If you missed the study on Managing Our Finances. You can now check this
study out from the library.
Volunteers Needed:
Journey of Hope is a cross-country cycling trip with three routes beginning in
Seattle (TransAm), San Francisco (North) or Long Beach (South) and ending
together in Washington, D.C. The event builds men of Pi Kappa Phi into servant
leaders and raises funds and awareness for people with disabilities. Simply put, the
Journey of Hope is a ride with a purpose. The cyclists will be passing through our
area July 6th and 7th. If you would like to help, please contact Melanie Goodenberger:
308-345-7709
Preschool Assistant Opening:
Do you enjoy working with young kids, while helping them succeed in a positive
environment? If so, we encourage you to apply for our Little Blessings Preschool
Assistant position. Applications may be picked up in the church office, or send your
resume to: Memorial United Methodist Church, 105 East E St., McCook, NE 69001
Wedding Coordinator Needed:
MUMC is currently looking to fill the position of Wedding Coordinator. This position
is paid per wedding event. The wedding coordinator is responsible for visiting with
the couple regarding décor, building usage, costs, logistics and scheduling. As
the coordinator, you will be required to be in attendance for the wedding
rehearsal and day of ceremony. If you would like more information, please speak
with Pastor Jeff. You may also speak with our previous coordinator, Brenda
McGuire.
Community Supper Delivery:
We want to give Chet and Donna DeVaughn our thanks and blessings for helping
out with our Thursday meal deliveries. Chet and Donna are, however, moving to
Lincoln, which means we will be needing a new delivery person on Thursday
evenings. If this sounds like an outreach ministry that you would like to be a part
of, please contact Marge Daniel at 340-0705 or Bonnie Brown at 340-2112

The Open Door
From pie crusts, to donations, to organizing volunteers
for cooking, cleaning, and food transportation-
The 2019 United Methodist Food Booth is in full gear!!!
For many years, The UMC Fair Food Booth
has been a favorite destination for many
locals during the annual Red Willow
County Fair. From the extended list of pie
selections to the grilled burgers, hungry
fair goers are never disappointed.
Not only does the church
get to be a part of this awesome
community event, but we also get to raise
money for many of our youth mission projects.
In the past, the youth were able to purchase
the church van and the often-used ice machine in our
Fellowship Hall. Other funded projects include: The Dare To Share
Program, Trick or Treat for the Pantry, Veteran care packages,
Souper Bowl Sunday, Bingo at Hillcrest and Brookdale, shut-in
Christmas baskets, church camps, confirmation, youth bible
study (WORD), the annual ski trip, funds to the community supper
and the local pantry.
It takes a lot of manpower, time,
and generous giving to make it
happen each year. And with
that, we want to thank our
church family for all their support,

Are you a grill master? Or maybe your
expertise is calculating and counting
cash. How about helping resupply those
yummy pies from the church to the
fairgrounds? If you want to see what
positions and time slots are open, visit
our website at:
