Purpose o f the Position:

The Senior Placement Consultant will work across various facets of providing individually tailored employment related services to young people, aimed at assisting them to achieve ongoing employment outcomes consistent with their individual needs and abilities. Under the direction of the Business Manager, the Senior Placement Consultant will allocate work to the team, act as the escalation point in the Business Manager's absence, and provide advice to team members where required.

• Deliver quality services that enhance the lives of young people by focusing on their strengths and inherent abilities:

o Deliver services which are individually focused in recognition that every young person is unique.

o Deliver services that are outcome focused, professional and aligned with child safety requirements.

o Create opportunities for changes in lives of young people through enhanced employment and education outcomes.

. Provide support to the Business Manager as a senior point of contact for the site:

o Responsible for resolving escalations and making decisions as appropriate, under the advisement of the Business Manager when not on site.

o Provision of advice to less experienced team members as needed, particularly with regards to complex cases.

• Provide reports regarding team performance when requested.

• Involvement in the orientation and training of new employment staff and provision of ongoing advice and mentoring.

• Establish and maintain professional and productive relationships with, and across the Employment Services team

• Liaise with the Max Business Manager and team as required.

The Senior Placement Consultant will undertake work in the following areas, as directed by the Business Manager:

• Conduct interviews and assessments for young people;

o Achieve the minimum performance targets set including number of referrals into job focused group activities and job placement outcomes.

o Conduct group interviews and registrations.

o Conduct individual occupational assessments and refer to job focused group activities and/or the Employment Youth Worker.

o Register clients and create a Jobs Plan with clients and enter details into ESS.

a Match clients against current available job vacancies using Max Connect.

o Refer young people to appropriate services such as Psychologist, Youth Worker etc, using Max Online Referral System.

• Job Focused Group Activity Work;

o Facilitate and run job focused group activities and workshops for young people with the aim of building work readiness to secure ongoing employment.

o Activities could include job searching, resume writing, interview skills, employability skills and so on for all client streams.

o Achieve the minimum performance targets set including number of job placement outcomes.

. Work for the Dole Administration

o Match clients to Work for the Dole Activities for those who have reached the Work for the Dole phase.

o Monitor and record attendance and hours completed for clients participating in Work for the Dole.

o Undertake activity management with the Employment Services system.

o In conjunction with the Business Manager, undertake basic risk assessments of Work for the Dole activities prior to program commencing.

o Achieve minimum performance targets based on % of clients engaging in Work for the Dole activities.

. Post Placement Support;

o Gather the appropriate evidence for clients in employment in order for yourtown to make a claim.

o Maintain regular contact and communication with Job Seekers and Recruitment Consultants to ensure that any concerns or problems are resolved efficiently and effectively.

o Achieve minimum performance targets based on 4, 12, and 26 week outcomes.

Employment Case Work;

• Provide individually tailored interventions to a caseload of job seeker clients towards achieving sustainable employment.

• Prepare a detailed Jobs Plan for the client to develop intervention strategies to overcome identified barriers to employment.

• Identify urgent challenges to be overcome, crisis interventions required and refer to the Youth Worker or other services as required.

• Maintain client contact, client records and ensure compliance to relevant systems and contract guidelines.

• Achieve minimum performance targets based on the number of Job Seekers that have moved into Work Ready activities, and placed into employment.

. Work within organisational frameworks;

o Understand a diverse range of challenges affecting disadvantaged young people in securing sustainable employment.

o Understand and meet quality and compliance requirements as per contractual obligations.

o Establish and maintain professional and productive relationships with, and across the Employment Services Team.

o Achieve individual FP's and team goals to meet outcome targets set for the workplace and deliver contract/ program requirements.

• Participate in and meet the requirements for Practice Supervision and Core Skills Training

• Participate in other duties as maybe required in order to achieve efficient and effective yourtown services

• Demonstrate an understanding of and meet the requirements of the position and all performance expectations

• Participate in and meet the expectations as agreed pursuant to the Organisational Performance System processes

• From time to time you may be required to assist in other locations. You may also be required to travel intrastate, or interstate, as required.

Selection Criteria:

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

I. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field with a minimum four years experience; or a minimum of five years experience, in Employment Services operating at a senior level.

2. Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to resolve escalations and liaise with external stakeholders (MAX).

3. Demonstrated understanding of the local labour market as well as the challenges to employment faced by disadvantaged young people.

4. Ability to successfully provide a variety Employment Service functions, including group facilitation/workshop skills, to disadvantaged young people to transition them into sustainable employment.

5. Demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the opportunities for change in the lives young people available through enhanced employment, education and training outcomes.

6. Well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with and motivate young people.

7. Strong time management skills, organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.

8. Ability to coach and mentor less experienced staff members.

9. Computer literate, sound administrative skills, and demonstrates attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
