Year 10 made a positive start to term 3 by meeting with their year advisor, to discuss their half-

yearly reports. Students were challenged to build on strengths and identify weaknesses. This

process was helpful for students to think through their future goals for tertiary study or

employment. One area of the reports where students were encouraged to improve was in the area

of school service, community service and participation in academic competitions.

The subject selection night for year 11 2012 will be held next Tuesday in the school hall at 7pm.

This is an important part of the process of students making an informed choice about the courses

they choose. If you are able to attend, please do so in an effort to help understand the complexities

involved. While many students are certain what career they are seeking when they leave school,

they are unsure what subjects to choose. The subject selection night will assist them in making the

best choices.

Year 10 are regularly encouraged through weekly year meetings to improve themselves both

academically and socially. At the end of last term students participated in the Red Shield door

knock appeal. This benefited not only themselves but the wider community. The Salvation Army

formally thanked the students by presenting them with a certificate of appreciation. We thank

parents and caregivers of these students for allowing their child to participate in this valuable

service to underprivileged people.

Should you have any issues to discuss regarding your child, please email myself at

NEW MAGAZINES We have recently added a subscription called Tracker to our magazine collection. Tracker brings a wealth of reports and analysis on local, national and international issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

We have also subscribed to a magazine called The Week. This magazine highlights and summaries the major news stories from Australia and around the world every week.

NEW BOOKS

Our graphic novel collection continues to grow in response to the ever increasing demand for this type of fiction. Watch out for new volumes of the ever popular Scott Pilgrim and Bleach.

This fast-paced fantastic thriller will keep readers on the edge of their seats. It includes everything from werewolves and mind-sucking librarians to vampires and a brother unknowingly kissing his sister—just what teenagers love to read. Clary is an independent, female character who adapts to her newfound powers easily and thinks nothing of throwing a weapon at a werewolf. If you loved reading Twilight then you will certainly love this.
