Antonn HolCzech chemist and naturalistZpracoval:Patrik BlhaBasic informationAntonn Hol was born on 1st September 1936 in Prague.He died on 16th July 2012.He was a Czech chemist and one of the most popular naturalists.Antonn Hol discovered the antiviral in the treatment of HIV and AIDS.

He studied the organic chemistry at Charles university from 1954 to 1959 in Prague. He was the scientific aspirant of Istitute for organic chemistry and biochemistry from 1960-1963 in Prague.He became the leading scientific worker in 1967.Antonn Hol was at the forefront of group of nucleic acids in 1987.

The scientific career

He was director of Institute for organic chemistry from 1994 to 2002.Antonn Hol taught at the Science faculty of the University Palacky in Olomouc in 2004.He was appointed professor of organic chemistry in 2005.He worked on the development of antiviral medications from 1976 until his death.

Antonn Hol was author of 60 Czech patents.

Development of medicaments

The first medicine by Antonn Hol was Duviragel, it is antiviral.

Cidofovir was approved for the treatment of viral inflammation of the ocular mucosa by the European Union in 1996.The most effective medicine against of AIDS is Viread.The medicine for AIDS called Viread was issued in 2004.Viread was approved for treatment of hepatitis B.

Antonn Hol invented the Hespera medicine for the treatment of hepatitis B.He invented Truvada medicine for the treatment of AIDS in 2004.Truvada was approved for the treatment of HIV virus.

He got the State Award for Chemistry in 1984.He got the honorary doctorate of the University Palacky in Olomouc in 1998. He got the Medal of Merit in 2002. He became a member of the European academy of the arts and sciences in 2006. He got the State Award Czech head in 2007. He got the silver medal of Prague in 2012.
