ZUNO with the help of the
Norwegian Nurses Organisation has invested in improving social media skills and Internet access among its membership as a way to improve communication between the ZUNO structures and members.
The move is expected to enhance correct information flow among the membership while keeping the membership engaged, thereby cementing ZUNO’s commitment to democracy.
Provincial Office representatives who attended the training
Four workshops for Management focusing on the Organisations’ communication strategy have been scheduled for each quarter of 2016, with the first having taken place in Lusaka on the 9th -10th of March.
Social training workshops for representatives in Provincial Offices have also been planned.
The first social media training workshop which took place in Lusaka from 16-17th March covered five Provinces.
Each office has been allocated tablets which members can use to learn or enhance their social media skills.
Members, are free to visit their local ZUNO Provincial offices to access free WIFI to enable the Organisation communicate better.

President of the International Council
of Nurses (ICN), Dr Judith Shamian,
has been selected to serve on the
United Nations Secretary-General’s
High-Level Commission on Health
Employment and Economic Growth. The Commission is a strategic political
initiative designed to complement
broader initiatives developed by other
international agencies and global health
partners.
The Commission is co-chaired by Mr
Francois Hollande, President of
France, and Mr Jacob Zuma, President
of South Africa.
“It is an incredible honour for me
personally, but also for the nursing
profession, to be chosen as a member
of this High-Level Commission,” said
Dr Judith Shamian.
The World Health Organization
(WHO) along with the Organization
for Economic Co-operation and
(OECD) and the International Labour
Organization (ILO) will serve as the
Secretariat of the Commission.
The objective of the Commission is to
propose actions in support of the
creation of around 40 million new jobs
in the health and social sector by 2030,
paying specific attention to addressing
the projected shortage of 18 million
health workers by 2030, primarily in
low- and middle- income countries
development.

These actions will need to contribute
to global inclusive economic growth,
creation of decent jobs and achieving
Universal Health Coverage, and also to
complement the various global
development efforts set by the
international community.

ZUNO embarks on policy review and
development
ZUNO has embarked on a
process of reviewing and
developing policies to
improve coordination and
stir organisational growth.
To keep pace with change,
ZUNO has identified the
following policies for review;
Membership Services Policy,
Financial and Management
policy, Information and
Communication Technology
Policy, Transport Policy,
Asset Management Policy
and Human Resource
Management Policy for
members of staff.
ZUNO is also developing
policies to enable the
organisation perform and
meet the new challenges in
the work environment.
The policies being
developed include the;
Leadership Transition policy,
Procurement Policy,
Leadership Code of Conduct
Policy, Professional Interest
Groups Engagement Policy,
Employees/Members travel
Policy and Gender Policy.
The National Executive
Council is expected to
appoint a committee to
review and develop the
policies.
