Pregnancy, Birth

Prenatal Care and ClassesPrenatal care is an essential part of a healthy pregnancy for both mother and baby and should begin very early in the pregnancy and continue regularly throughout the pregnancy. Your healthcare provider at Shawnee Health Care OB/GYN will discuss many issues with you, such as nutrition and physical activity, what to expect during the birth process, basic skills for caring for your newborn, and much more.

Family PlanningFamily planning allows a woman and her partner to plan and effectively control the number of children in their family and the intervals between their births, particularly by means of artifi cial contraception or voluntary sterilization. At Shawnee Health Care OB/GYN, we are able to help you understand the many birth control methods and help you choose an option that is best for you.

UltrasoundA fetal ultrasound, or sonogram, is an imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of a baby in the uterus. Ultrasound images can help your provider evaluate your baby’s growth and development as well as determine how your pregnancy is progressing. Ultrasound allows you to see your baby’s face and watch his or her tiny heart beat months before delivery. One of the latest advancements in imaging and ultrasound technology is the 4D Ultrasound, which is available to the patients at Shawnee Health Care OB/GYN and provides you with “live action” detailed images of your child in the womb.

FertilityA woman who has been trying to conceive unsuccessfully for six months or more may wish to have an infertility evaluation. This will help determine the cause and treatment options.
