Guidelines for Contributors

The SAJE is a refereed journal with articles selected through the familiar blind peer review process to ensure the quality of the published materials. All papers being published in the Journal will be reviewed and accepted by our editorial board. In addition to the peer review, the paper will also be refereed by one or more external reviewers. Manuscripts should be unpublished original work not submitted for consideration elsewhere.

Submissions should be sent to the SAJE editor as an email attachment (Microsoft Word file) at [email protected]. Contributors must provide their affiliation, complete postal and e-mail addresses, and fax and telephone numbers with their submissions. The manuscript text ordinarily should not exceed 6,000 words.

It is the contributor’s responsibility to disclose any potential conflicts of interest regarding the manuscript and to pursue all required permissions, if applicable. More detailed guideline can be found on the journal website.

Presentation of the Paper1. The first page includes the title, author name(s) and affiliation(s), abstract of no more than

150 words, a list of two to six keywords, and JEL classification code(s) (2 digits).2. The format of the manuscript should conform to the stylistic conventions adopted in recent

articles published in the SAJE.3. Mathematical notation should be simplified as much as possible. Avoid unusual symbols

where common ones will serve.4. Statistical tables and diagrams should be clear and neatly prepared in a form suitable for

immediate reproduction.5. Bibliographical references should be accurate and listed alphabetically using APA

referencing style.6. Citations of references should be included in the main text.7. Footnotes should be kept to a minimum and numbered consecutively. 8. Articles should contain a final section in which authors summarize and conclude in a way

which will be intelligible to non-specialist readers.9. Submissions that do not conform to these requirements may cause unnecessary delay in

processing.

1. Introduction (TNR, font 14, bold, 12 points before and 6 points after)

This section illustrates the presentation for sections, subsections and subsubsections.

There should be a blank line inserted between sections. Section text should be TNR, font 12,

paragraph spacing: 6 points before and 6 points after. New paragraphs should be inserted with

one tab (default tab size 1.27 cm./ 0.5 inch)

1.1 Subsection Title (TNR, font 12, bold, 12 points before and 6 points after)

Subsection text should be TNR, font 12, paragraph spacing: 6 points before and 6

points after.

1.1.1 Subsubsection Title (TNR, font 12, italic, 12 points before and 6 points after)

Subsubsection text should be TNR, font 12, paragraph spacing: 6 points before and 6

points after.

2. Section Title

This section illustrates the presentation of in-text citations, footnotes, equations, tables

and figures.

2.1 In-text Citations

In-text citations should follow APA style. The author’s/authors’ name and year are

given. All work cited must be included in the reference.

2.1.1 Single Author

When the work is cited in the running text, place the year of publication in

parentheses. When the work is not cited in the running text, place both the author’s name and

the year of publication in parentheses. Examples:

Rao (2010) suggests that subsidies targeted only to kerosene-dependent urban areas

Page 5:   · Web viewSubmissions should be sent to the SAJE editor as an email attachment (Microsoft Word file) at saje@chula.ac.th. Contributors must provide their affiliation, complete

would have a higher efficacy than broad-based subsidies.

Since 2011, financial reforms have been taking place in the country, and the financial

landscape is changing (Inada, 2015).

2.1.2 Two Authors

When citing a work by two authors, always include both authors in all citations. Use

“and” between the authors' names within the running text and use “&” in the parentheses.

Example:

Mullainathan and Shafi (2009) also finds that for those in poverty, small emotional

factors could hamper prudent financial decisions such as product uptake.

Attitudes are found to be one factor affecting the extent to which individuals save

with individual development accounts in the United States (Han & Sherraden, 2009).

2.1.3 Three to Five Authors

When citing a work by three to five authors, list all the authors’ names for the first

citation. For subsequent citations, give the first author’s name followed by et al. Use “and”

between the authors' names within the running text and use “&” in the parentheses. Example:

As Anzoategui, Demirgüç-Kunt, and Martínez Pería (2014) points out, formal

financial inclusion could lower costs for sending and receiving remittances.

Anzoategui et al. (2014) also suggests that financial institutions could finance

migration through credit markets.

Other factors such as marital status, gender, and living in urban locations have more

mixed findings, and have been found to be significant determinants of formal financial access

in some of the studies. (See, e.g., Allen, Demirguc-Kunt, Klapper, & Peria., 2012;…..).

Nonetheless, evidence using individual-level information across multiple across

countries suggests that the effect of individual-specific factors on being formally banked

varies from country to country (Allen et al. 2012).

2.1.4 Six or More Authors

Page 6:   · Web viewSubmissions should be sent to the SAJE editor as an email attachment (Microsoft Word file) at saje@chula.ac.th. Contributors must provide their affiliation, complete

Provide the first author’s name followed by et al. in all citations. Example:

This done by estimating a recursive bivariate probit model similar to the model used

by Ichida et al. (2013) to address the reverse causality problem in their data.

The government has taken an active role in pushing forward the financial inclusion

agenda, and a number of initiatives have been put in place to create an enabling environment

for financial inclusion (Chamberlain, et al., 2014).

2.2 Footnotes

Footnotes should be kept to a minimum and numbered consecutively. Citations of

references should be included in the main text by the method demonstrated in 2.1. Footnote

text should by TNR, font 10, single line spacing, example*

2.3 Equations

Equations should be displayed in the middle using TNR, font 12, italic, with

numbering on the right edge.

Abc=∑b

t

αβγ (1)

Mathematical notation should be simplified as much as possible. Avoid unusual

symbols where common ones will serve.

2.4 Tables

Tables should be displayed in the middle. Table numbers should run consecutively.

Details of font type and spacing of table titles, table text and data, notes, and sources are

shown below. Notes and sources are positioned below the table. Tables should be clear and

neatly prepared in a form suitable for immediate reproduction.

3. Conclusion

Articles should contain a final section in which authors summarize and conclude in a

way which will be intelligible to non-specialist readers.

Acknowledgements

Collate acknowledgements in a separate section at the end of the article before the

references. List here those individuals who provided help during the research (e.g., providing

language help, writing assistance or proof reading the article, etc.).

References

Bibliographical references should be in APA style and listed alphabetically using TNR, font

12, Paragraph spacing: before 6 points, after 6 points, with a hanging indentation of 1.27

cm./0.5 inch on second line onwards. General guidelines are as follows:

- Give surnames and initials of up to seven authors.

- Surnames are given in full. All first and middle names should be given as initials.

- Web address can be provided as URL or doi number. Do not add period after the end

of URL or doi.
