Makerspace Ribbon Cutting February marked the grand opening of the library’s mobile makerspace. The Kirksville Leader Institute raised the money to purchase all the items. Members of the Kirksville Leadership Institute, Chamber of Commerce, Library board and families in the community joined together to celebrate on February 9th. Special thanks to McKenzie Willis for supervising the refreshment table at the event. For more information on our mobile maker space, or to schedule a group to use it, please contact Mr. L.

Throughout the last month we’ve been putting out puzzle for our patrons. If you have any old puzzles you may bring them here and we will put them out to be completed.

Staff Baby Picture Contest

Lego Day

Lego Jr Makers Club will meet again Thurs, March 15 from 4:00 – 5:30pm. All ages are welcome to attend (Adults can come, too!) This month, our goal is to build famous landmarks. From the Eiffel Tower to Mount Rushmore, from the Coliseum to the Golden Gate Bridge, bring your creativity and Lego thinking cap!

Puzzles

Girl Scout Story Time Move over Thin Mints, this time the Girl Scouts have books to share!!! Children are invited to join us for a special story time brought to you by Girl Scout Troop 9171. These young ladies will be bringing stories and a small craft on Saturday, March 24th from 12:30-1:00pm at the library.

Fishing Poles Seed Library

Using Our Makerspace Our makerspace cart is now available for use. Individual items may be signed out for use in the library as long as staff is available to assist. If you have a group that would like to use all of our materials, you can talk with Mr L. about scheduling a time in advance. In addition, children under age 12 will be required to have adult supervision at all times.

Mr L will be hosting a three Makerspace Days in March. These days Mr L will be available to show you how to use the different materials and will have them ready for use in the children’s area. Makerspace Days will be Sat, March 10 from 12:00 – 3:30pm, Wed, March 14 from 10:00 – 5:00pm, & Sat, March 24 from 1:00 – 3:30pm.

Teen Book Club

Teen Book Club will meet again in April. We will be reading the William Golding classic, Lord of the Flies. Sixth graders and above are invited to join. Sign up by the March 30th

deadline! Contact Mr. L to sign up or for more details.

Our seed library is stocked back up this month! It is located at the front of the library by the newspapers. You can check out ten seed packets at a time and will need to sign them out in the notebook.

There are five golden tickets hidden around the library this month at random. Patrons must check out the book with the golden ticket and turn in the ticket to receive a small prize. Good luck!

We have fishing poles available for check-out too. Just ask the circulation desk. Staff will help you get ready to fish!
