DEFINES:- Scrotum/testis/epididymis/ductus deferens/prostate/external genital organs.

IDENTIFIES & DESCRIBES:- Testis

Right,left,structure/coverings/poles/surfaces.

Epididymis/structure and position/parts/sinus epididymis.

Spermatic cord/extent/major components.

Ductus deferens:- structure/origin/course/termination/relations

Testis:- structure/position/relationships/ducts/ejaculatory ducts.

Prostate:- structure/size and position/surfaces/relationships/ subdivision/ features of the prostatic uretha.

Components structures:

o Corpora cavernosa.

o Corpus spongiosum.

o Erectile tissue.

o Dorsal artery.

o Deep arteries.

o Tunica albuginea.

Scrotum: Wall / dartos muscle / contents and their coverings.

Describes: constituents of the wall of the scrotum and their continuity with the anterolateral wall.

Covering of the spermatic cord and testis: their derivation from the structures of the abdominal wall.

Venous and lymphatic drainage of the penis.

Parts of penis

Root having bulb and two crura.

Body /shaft having erectile tissues corpus cavernosum and corpus spongiosum.

Glans penis

Suspensory ligament of penis

It is a triangular sheet of fibrous tissue that hangs the penis from the pubic symphysis.

The penis is a male copulatory organ, also conveys the urethra

Which provides the common outlet for urine and semen.The penis consists of a root,body,and glans.It is composed of three cylindrical bodies of erectile cavernous tissue.The paired corpora cavernosa dorsally and single corpus spongiosum ventrally.

The Root of the Penis is the fixed part, consists of:-

The crura,bulb,ischiocavernosus and bulbospongiosus muscles.

The root is located in superficial perineal pouch, between the perineal membrane and deep perineal fascia.

Each crus is attached to the ischial ramus, bulb is attached to the perineal membrane.

Blood supply 3 paired arteries

Artery to bulb supply corpus spongiosum & glans.

Deep artery of penis supply corpus cavernosum.

Dorsal artery of penis supply the skin.

All branches of internal pudendal artery.

Venous Return

Internal pudendal veins.

Deep dorsal veins.

Superficial dorsal vein drains the dorsal skin of penis.

Lymphatic drainage

Superficial inguinal nodes drains penile skin.

Glans & corpora drained by deep inguinal nodes.

Nerve Supply:

Pudendal nerve, posterior scrotal and dorsal nerves supply glans.Dermatome S2.Muscles bulbospongiosus & ischiocavernosus S2 perineal branch of pudendal nerve.Sympathetic nerve for ejaculation L1 segment via superior & inferior hypogastric plexus.Parasympathtic nerves S2 + S3 pelvic splanchnic nerves for erection.

SCROTUM

A POUCH OF SKIN THAT ENCLOSES THE TESTES.

Layers are:- Skin,Dartos muscle,External spermatic fascia,Cremasteric fascia,Internal spermatic fascia,tunica vaginalis and tunica albugenia.

Blood Supply

Superficial and deep external pudendal arteries from femoral artery.

Internal pudendal artery.

Veins:- external pudendal veins.

Superficial and deep veins drain into long saphenous vein.

Lymphatic Drainage

Medial group of superficial inguinal lymph nodes.

Nerve supply

Anterior 1/3 of scrotum skin supplied by ilioinguinal nerve and genital branch of genitofemoral nerve.Posterior aspect of scrotum supplied by sacral plexus,pudendal nerve and perineal branch of posterior femoral cutaneous nerve.Sympathetic nerves regulates thermoregulation.

Spermatic Cord

It is a tubulomuscular cord that suspends the testis in the scrotal sac.

Its covering includes 1.internal spermatic fascia,2.cremasteric fascia,3.external spermatic fascia.

Constituents of Spermatic Cord

Ductus deferens, 45 cm.tube that carries sperms from testis to out side.Testicular artery, branch of abdominal aorta.Artery of ductus deferens,from inferior vesicle artery.Cremasteric artery.Pampiniform plexus.Lymphatic plexus and nerve plexus and genital branch of genitofemoral nerve.

HYPOSPADIASIS

The normal external urethral meatus opens on the tip of the glans penis.If it opens on the ventral aspect of the shaft of penis, it is an abnormal condition called hypospadias.It is due to abnormal nonclosure of urethral grooves, during the development of urethra.

EPISPADIAS

The abnormal urethral opening is on the dorsal aspect of the shaft of penis.

Epispadias is Associated with Extrophy of Urinary Bladder

Chordee is the abnormal flexion of the shaft of penis

THE GENITAL TUBERCLE
