An ordinance entitled An ordinance relative to sidewalks was offered and passed its first and second reading.

R E S O L U T I O N S . Ann Arbor, Mich., April 3, 1900.

To the Common Council: Your committee on streets to whom

was referred the petition of H. J. Brown and others praying for the establishment of a certain sprinkling district, respect­fully report that we have duly consid­ered the said petition and recommend that the prayer of the petitioners be granted.

Your committee submit herewith the necessary resolution fixing the bound­aries of the proposed sprinkling district, all of which is respectfully submitted.

By Alderman Koch: Resolved, That the health and comfort

of the people of the City of Ann Arbor require that the streets and avenues in this resolution mentioned, be sprinkled an-d wet down so that and to the end that the dust therein be at all times well and sufficiently laid, that such sprinkling is deemed and hereby declared o be a pub­lic necessity.

Resolved further. That this resolution shall apply to the following named streets and avenues, that is to say:

Main st. from William st. to Cather­ine St.: Ashley st. from William st. to Catherine st.: Fourth ave., from Wil­liam St. to Catherine st.; Fifth ave. from William st. to Catherine st.; Catherine St. from Ashley st. to Fifth ave.; Ann st. from Ashley st. to Fifth ave.; Huron st. from Ashley st. to Fifth ave.; Washing­ton St. from Ashley st. to Fifth ave.; Liberty st. from Ashley st. to Fifth ave.; William st. from Ashley st. to Fifth ave.

Resolved further, That and it is hereby deemed and declared that all that part of the City of Ann Arbor and the fol­lowing district therein is and will be benefited by the sprinkling of the streets and avenues aforesaid, that is to say.

Commencing at the north west corner of Block four north, range six east, ac­cording to the plat of the Village (now City) of Ann Arbor, running thence east to "the north east corner of lot number fourteen in said Block; thence south par­allel with Fifth ave. to the south line of lot number one in Block four south, range six east; thence west parallel with William st. to the south west corner of lot two in Block four south, range three

Whereas, this Common Council hav­ing been applied to in writing by ten or more freeholders residing within the City of Ann Arbor praying for the laying out, establishment and opening of a certain public alley within the corporate limits of the City of Ann Arbor and between Liberty and William streets within s,aid city; therefore.

Resolved, and this Common Council does hereby determine that it is advis­able to lay out, open and establish a pub­lic alley within the corporate limits of the City of Ann Arbor and bounded as follows, to-wit:

Commencing at the north west 'corner of lot number fifteen in Block number three, south of Huron st., range four east, according to the plat of the Village (now City) of Ann Arbor; running thence east eight feet; thence south, par­allel with the line of lots to William st.; thence west sixteen feet; thence north, parallel with the line of lots, to a point twenty-two feet south of the south line of lot one in said Block; thence norther­ly to a point ten feet west of the south­east corner of said lot one; thence north to Liberty st.; thence east ten feet; thence south to the place of beginning.

Resolved further, that Monday, the i6th day of April, 1900, at 7:30 o'clock p. m., is hereby fixed and appointed as the time when, and the Council Cham­bers in the City of Ann Arbor as tlae place where the Common Council will meet to consider the proposed improve-m e n t a n d to hear all persons interested therein.

Resolved further. That the City Clerk do give notice to all persons interested therein of the pendency of the question of ordering the said public improvement

in accordance with Section No. 127 of the City Charter.
