Because of this, media are required to make golf interview requests at least 24 hours in advance. All golf interviews must be arranged through Josh Maxson in the Athletics Communications of ce at 205-348-7496.

FACILITIESAs part of the Crimson Tradition Fund facility upgrades, Alabama’s home golf course — Ol’ Colony — has some new additions that further serve to turn the course into the Tide’s home. Construction took place in 2004 on the Jerry Pate Golf Center, UA’s private practice facility and club house that includes coaches of ces, a fully furnished locker room and a team room. Ol’ Colony, designed by former UA men’s golf standout Jerry Pate, serves as the team’s home course. In addition to its “home” course, the Alabama women’s golf team bene ts from the oppor-tunity of being able to access several golf courses in the Tuscaloosa area for practice, including NorthRiver Yacht Club and Indian Hills Country Club.

The Alabama women’s golf team won the program’s rst NCAA Championship last season and begins the 2012-13 campaign as the nation’s consensus No. 1 team with a deep talented and squad who will is striving to be the best once again.

“Nothing changes for us,” Alabama head coach Mic Potter said. “What we accomplished last year validates what our ideals are and our philosophy always have been. In the past, our focus has always been to come to practice, make every shot count and get better every day and that will eventually snowball and accumulate, as each one of our girls works closer and closer to their potential. Whenever they are doing that, and we add four scores together every day in the tournament, the team score is going to get lower and lower.”

Potter begins his eighth year at the Capstone and his 30th overall with a National Championship to his credit and a squad bolstered by the return of rst-team All-Americans Jennifer Kirby and Stephanie Meadow, three other veteran starters and a skilled crop of newcomers looking to break into the lineup.

“The good news is that we have two All-Americans in Stephanie Meadow and Jennifer Kirby who aspire to play golf for a living – so they can’t let down their guard – they have to gwet better every day,” Potter said. “Hannah Collier just needs to be a little more consistent and keep the momentum going for three rounds because she has a lot of talent."

Alabama also has a bevy of talent looking to solidify a spot in the Tide's starting lineup. “We had tremendous competition for our fth spot last year and those girls are all back – Johanna Tillström, Courtney McKim and Daniela Lendl," Potter said. "They will be competing just as hard, and they know what it takes to earn that spot and keep it. Throw incoming freshmen Emma Talley and Cammie Gray into that competition for those other two spots and you will have to be playing well to make the lineup. Nothing makes you better, faster than high-level competition, and we have that going for us. We also have the experience of having won the big tournament. I don’t see any complacency and I don’t expect to.”

The focus on the details will once again be as important as anything for the Crimson Tide, who must replace the leadership and talent of three-time All-American Brooke Pancake.

“I don’t think it’s any different than it is with any other team – making sure that whenever you are practicing or playing, that every shot is important to you and keeping that focus,” Potter said. “Where sometimes when you are the defending national champion, you have to guard against taking it a little too lightly or thinking ‘I’ve done it before, or I’ll do it again, or I don’t have to work as hard’. Every individual has to improve and has to carry her load. Whether they are traveling or not, they have to keep pushing the players in front of them.”

Everything starts for Alabama with Kirby, a senior from Paris, Ontario, Canada, and Meadow, a junior from Jordanstown, Northern Ireland. Both players will be competing for their home country in the World Amateur in Turkey this fall.

Meadow is coming off a fantastic summer that saw her clinch the Curtis Cup for Great Britain and Ireland and then win the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship, which quali ed her for the U.S. Open and the Ladies British Open this fall. The two-time rst-team All-American owns the Alabama career record with ve medalist honors in her rst 22 events and owns a school-best 72.54 career-scoring

average.

“Winning the NCAA Championship was the beginning of everything that Stephanie did this summer,” Potter said. “I think she is happy with her summer, but she is not the kind of player who is going to rest on her laurels. She is going to keep improving every single day.”

Kirby is also a two-time All-American who enters her nal year at Alabama with a 73.39 scoring average and 13 career-top-10 nishes. She has a wealth of experience and has set a path to be one of the top collegiate golfers in the country in 2012-13.

“I expect great things from Jennifer,” Potter said. “The biggest improvement I would expect to see would be tournament-to-tournament consistency. It comes down to her putting. She is working very hard on her putting, and I’ve told her, ‘You are going to be of the best ball-strikers in women’s golf. How well you perform or how

much money you make depends on how well you putt.’ Gaining consistency and a stroke that she can rely on is going to be huge for Jennifer.”

For Collier, a junior from Birmingham, Ala., the key will be realizing how talented she is and taking it to the course every day. She was fourth on the team in scoring a season ago at 74.21 and led the team with 100 birdies and 3.21 sup-par strokes per round, which tied for sixth nationally.

“Hannah is starting to realize her potential,” Potter said. “It comes down to her being an aggressive player. She is long off the tee, so by nature that is going to bring some bogeys into play. Improving her short game – chipping, pitching, putting – can eliminate some of those bogeys and take the pressure off her long game. Hannah it is a matter of making sure she is focused on each shot and continues her momentum in each round by making those crucial up-and-downs.”

Talley, a freshman from Princeton, Ky., arrives at Alabama with a litany of achievements and accolades. She has quali ed for two U.S. Opens before every stepping on campus and made the cut at the 2012 U.S. Open, nishing tied for 46th. Talley was the nation’s No. 1 recruit by Golfweek and a rst-team Rolex Junior All-American. She also played on a Junior Ryder Cup and a Junior Solheim Cup team. “Emma is probably the most-decorated player we have ever brought in to our program, Potter said. "She made the cut in the U.S. Open this past summer, and has played in two U.S. Opens before ever arriving on campus. She is the only player to win four American Junior Golf Association Open events in a row. Not many players compete at that level as juniors. We have to replace Brooke Pancake, so we needed to bring someone in at that level.”

Alabama is also blessed with considerable depth when you consider McKim and Tillström have a combined 27 collegiate starts to their credit and the talent to be impact players for the Tide. Lendl, a sophomore, played in one event as an individual for Alabama in 2011-12 and has her sights set on an expanded role. Freshman Cammie Gray, from Northport, Ala., possesses a very sound golf game and should compete for playing time with the Crimson Tide.

The Crimson Tide will once again face a dif cult schedule, which is crafted to challenge the starting ve each time they tee it up.

“Every tournament is important from seeding in the regionals; you want to be ranked as high as you can,” Potter said. “It is important for us to give everybody an opportunity in qualifying to go play and earn a spot. It is as much a competition as it is an evaluation when we go to a tournament. Some people like to keep the pressure off, I like to have the girls competing at a high level with the best every week, because that is how players nd out where they stand and that is what makes them better. We try to play in the best tournaments that we can against the best teams that we can, and I think we have a schedule that will do that.”

The fall slate opens for the second straight year at the Cougar Classic at the Yeamans Hall Golf Club in Charleston, S.C., on September 9-11. The Tide then

makes what has become an annual trek to the Fall Preview, which will be played on the UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga. Alabama will nish the fall schedule after only three events with its rst trip to the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on Oct. 28-30, at the University of Texas Golf Club.

“The World Amateur is the third week in September, so that is interfering with our usual plan of playing four tournaments in the fall and four in the spring,” Potter said. "We are going to play three events in the fall and ve in the spring, but the three that we are playing in the fall are quality events.”

The Crimson Tide opens a heavy spring slate that features ve events leading up to the SEC Championship. UA returns to the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 10-12 after a year off. The Tide has won the event the last three times they participated, capturing the tournament title in 2008, 2010 and 2011. Next up will be the always challenging Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at English Turn Golf Club in New Orleans on Feb. 24-26. Alabama will look to defend both the team and individual championship at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on March 8-10, at the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

A visit to the Mark Bostick Golf Club in Gainesville, Fla., follows for the Crimson

Tide at the Gator Women’s Invitational on March 15-17. The Tide will make their second visit to the PING ASU Invitational on April 12-14. The event will be played at the ASU Karsten Golf Course.

Alabama will begin 2013 postseason play on April 19-21 at the SEC Championship at the Greystone Golf and Country Club’s Founders Course in Birmingham, Ala. Greystone will become the permanent home for the SEC Women’s Golf Championships for the foreseeable future after the event rotated around the SEC in past years. NCAA regional play is scheduled for May 9-11, followed by the NCAA Championships at the University of Georgia Golf Course on May 21-24. Junior Hannah Collier will be key in the Crimson Tide's

success in 2012-13 after averaging 74.21 strokes per

round last season.

Senior Jennifer Kirby ranks third in career-scoring av-

erage at 73.39 over 99 rounds at the University of

Alabama.

Alabama head coach Mic Potter added National Champion to his resume in 2012 and begins his eighth season with the Crimson Tide and 30th overall with a another talented team for the 2012-13 season. Potter had already established a Hall-of-Fame legacy before he arrived in Tuscaloosa, but his work over the rst seven years at Alabama culminated with the school’s rst National Championship in 2012.

Potter, who came to the Capstone after 22 years at Furman, led the Tide to its second NCAA Championship appearance in program history in his rst year at Alabama and repeated the feat in 2007, 2008,

2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. His National Championship and seven straight NCAA Championships berths only reaf rmed his status as one of the most prominent coaches in women’s collegiate golf. His reclamation project in Tuscaloosa is one of the most impressive turnarounds in collegiate golf history.

With his success, the honors continue to pile up for Potter, who helped the Crimson Tide develop into a national power in the ultra-competitive SEC. The veteran coach won his 12th Conference Coach of the Year award and his fourth in the SEC in 2012 after leading the Crimson Tide to the program’s rst National Championship. He was also named the SkyCaddie NGCA National and East Region Coach of the Year in 2012. The 2011-12 team captured its national title with a one-stroke victory over Southern California at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. The Crimson Tide spent most of the season ranked second in the polls and nished third in the SEC and tied for fourth at the NCAA East Regional leading up to NCAAs. The Tide also posted team victories at the SEC/Pac-12 Challenge, the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate and the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. UA nished second on three other occasions and only nished outside the top four once. The 2011-12 season saw three Alabama players — Brooke Pancake, Jennifer Kirby and Stephanie Meadow — earn rst-team All-America honors. Pancake won the Honda Award, which goes to the nation’s top collegiate golfer, was named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the third time, the SEC Female Athlete of the Year and the Capital One Academic All-American of the Year. Pancake (United States) and Meadow (Great Britain and Ireland) also participated in the Curtis Cup at Nairn in Scotland to cap the historic 2011-12 season. Alabama’s 2010-11 team turned in an outstanding season as the Crimson Tide continued its climb into the elite of women’s collegiate golf. The Tide spent the entire season in the top ve with a school-record ve wins — NCAA Fall Preview, Tar Heel Invitational,

Lady Puerto Rico Classic, Liz Murphey Classic and the NCAA East Regional. The Tide also posted a tie for eight at the NCAA Championships. Two Alabama players captured medalist honors during the 2010-11 season. Meadow, then a freshman, had a school-record three wins (Lady Puerto Rico Classic, Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate and NCAA East

Regional. Pancake won the Tar Heel Invitational in the fall of 2010 with an 11-under-par 206 wihle the team set the school record with a 28-under-par 836. Meadow and Pancake were selected as 2011 rst-team All-Americans while Camilla Lennarth garnered third-team honors. The Tide also had three rst-team All-SEC selections (Meadow, Pancake and Lennarth) and one second-team choice (Kirby). Potter was named the 2011 SEC Coach of the Year, Pancake the Student-Athlete of the Year and Meadow was the Co-Freshman of the Year. The 2010 SEC Championship was a springboard for the program's best NCAA Championships nish to date, a third-place showing, just four shots off the winning score. Alabama also captured a team win at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. The Tide had three players nish in the top 15 individually at the 2010 NCAAs, with Kirby tied for seventh, Pancake 12th and Lennarth tied for 13th. That trio garnered All-America honors with Lennarth earning second-team accolades while Kirby and Pancake were honorable mention selections. Lennarth and Kirby were also rst-team All-SEC selections with Kirby being named the 2010 SEC Freshman of the Year. Pancake was a second-team All-SEC selection and the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was also honored with the NCAA Elite 88 Award at the NCAA Championships as the player in the eld with the highest grade point average (4.0). Potter was named the SEC and NGCA East Region Coach of the Year. Potter’s 2009-10 team set several school records. Lennarth set the single-season scoring record with a 72.59 average and Kirby broke the freshman scoring mark with a 73.06 average, shattering the mark of 74.06 set by Pancake in 2008-09. The team set a new 54-hole scoring record with a 4-under-par 848 to clinch the SEC Championship. Two Alabama NCAA scoring records also fell with the Tide posting a 5-over-par 1,157 over 72 holes at the NCAA Championships on the Dye Course at Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C., and Kirby’s individual 72-hole scoring mark of 4-under 284. Potter’s 2008-09 team was a xture in the top 10 nationally. The Tide nished the year 11th at the NCAA

Championships while being ranked eighth in the nal NGCA Coaches’ Poll and seventh in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. The Tide captured their fth tournament victory under Potter’s guidance in 2009

at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate. Alabama also tied for second at the SEC Championships and second at the NCAA East Regional. The Tide's fth trip to the NCAA Finals in 2009 produced another improvement with an 11th-place nish.

UA had two players, Kathleen Ekey and Lennarth, earn rst-team All-SEC honors in 2009 while Pancake was selected to the league’s All-Freshman Team and awarded second-team All-SEC recognition. Potter produced All-Americans in 2009 with Ekey and Lennarth garnering honorable mention accolades. Ekey, Lennarth and Pancake all earned NGCA All-East Region honors as well in 2009. The 2007-08 season saw Alabama put together its then-most successful season to date. The Tide earned its third straight berth to the postseason and nished 12th at the NCAA Championships. Alabama won three tournaments in 2007-08, including the Crimson Tide Classic in record breaking fashion. The Tide turned in a school-record 54-hole score of 861 (-3) at the Ol’ Colony Golf Club. UA shot a nal-round score of 279 (-9), also a school record. Five Tide golfers nished in the top 10 with Ekey carding school record and women’s course record score of 65 (-7) to nish with a 54-hole score of 203 (-13) to win medalist honors. The Crimson Tide also earned tournament titles at the 2007 Wildcat Fall Invitational with a score of 889 and at the 2008 Lady Puerto Rico Classic. After the Classic, Sarah Sturm was named the Golf World National Player of the Week. Ekey also earned All-American honors in her rst season at the Capstone (2008) and broke Suh’s single-season record for scoring average by posting a 73.30. The 2006-07 campaign saw the Tide take another step forward in the development of the program under Potter's guidance. Alabama recorded ve top- ve nishes, including a runner-up showing at the Derby

Invitational. For the second straight year the Crimson Tide earned a berth in the NCAA East Regional and nished seventh to advance for just the third time to the

NCAA Championship Finals. Jenny Suh earned honorable mention All-America honors and became a two-time rst-team All-SEC honoree after averaging 73.88 stroker per round. The legendary coach made an impact from the start.

In his rst season (2005-06), Potter led his team to a tournament championship in his very rst outing by winning Alabama’s own UA-Ann Rhoads Invitational. The 2005-06 team also recorded two top- ve nishes during the spring season. After qualifying for

the 2006 East regional, the Crimson Tide put together an unlikely postseason run by defeating Virginia in a playoff to advance to the school’s second-ever NCAA Championship. Suh earned rst-team NGCA All-America honors in 2005-06 after shattering the then-school record with a 73.44 stroke average. Looking back on this resume, it comes as no surprise that Potter had his rst Tide team competing for a national championship. On June 17, 2005, the University of Alabama named the 1994 NGCA Hall of Fame honoree as its new women’s golf coach. By doing so, the Crimson Tide added one of the most illustrious names in women’s golf to its golf heritage. Potter proved to be one of the sports outstanding teachers and coaches guiding Furman, a school competing in the Southern Conference, to national prominence in a 22-year tenure with the Paladins. He also served for 10 years as Furman's Director of Intercollegiate Golf. Potter guided Furman to 15 NCAA Championship berths and six top-10 national nishes, including an

NCAA runner-up nish in 1987. He has yet to coach a season in which his team has not reached NCAA Regional competition, a streak dating back to 1993, the rst season in which the Regional format was established. Potter’s coaching accomplishments stand alone as an indication of the abilities of the 57-year-old mentor. In addition to these outstanding achievements, his players have recorded astounding success at both the intercollegiate level and in the professional ranks. The ability to build and maintain a program are certainly among Potter’s strengths when considering the amazing run of success he had throughout his career at Furman. Potter took the school, with an approximate enrollment of 2,500 students, into the upper tier of women’s golf schools, leading the Paladins to unprecedented heights. Potter was named Southern Conference Coach of the Year eight times and led his Furman teams to 36 tournament titles while his Tide teams have captured 16 tournament wins, which put him third among all active women’s golf coaches with 52 total victories. To put that remarkable statistic in perspective, the Alabama women’s golf program had won 19 team titles through the beginning of the 2005-06 season, a span of 31 years. Led by Potter, the Paladins won 10 Southern Conference Championships since the tournament’s inception in 1994, including the 2004-05 championship.

Potter has coached 29 NGCA All-Americans, 27 NGCA All-Scholar Team selections, 54 All-Conference selections, six players to 13 rst-team All-SEC awards, 12 conference players of the year and six conference freshmen of the year. One of the most important standards of success for any coach in major collegiate athletics the ability to place players in the professional ranks while guiding them to a degree. Measuring Potter by these standards again places him among the very best in the nation. In 2004, seven of Potter's former pupils on the LPGA tour, more than any other college coach from one school. Only four schools: Arizona, Arizona State, Florida and Texas, had more than seven athletes on the LPGA player list in 2004. More importantly, each of the seven players coached by Potter had earned a degree. In the exceedingly competitive LPGA atmosphere, Potter’s former players have enjoyed long, successful careers in professional golf. Through the end of the 2004 season, former Potter pupils had amassed over 70 seasons on tour and over $9 million in career earnings. Leading that group is former Furman standout and Paladin Hall-of-Famer Dottie Pepper. She had an illustrious LPGA career, winning 17 events, including the 1992 and 1999 Kraft Nabisco Championships. Pepper earned over $5 million in career winnings before ending her 20-year professional career in 2003. By any standard, Potter has proven to be one of the best women’s golf coaches in the nation for more than three decades. He has built a successful program and maintained that standard by recruiting and cultivating talented players who advance to the professional ranks and obtain their degrees. A 1977 graduate of Cortland State University, Potter majored in physical education while earning four varsity letters: three in soccer and one in golf. He is married to the former Kim O’Branski of Ithaca, N.Y. The couple has two sons, Ryan and Corey.

MAL M. MOOREA T H L E T I C S D I R E C T O R

The University of Alabama’s director of athletics since 1999, Mal Moore has made an indelible mark on one of the nation’s most storied athletic programs, leading a department that has enjoyed tremendous success athleti-cally and academically and has undergone an unprecedented period of growth during his tenure. Through his guidance, Alabama’s athletic department remains focused on his vision of having all Crimson Tide athletic teams and stu-dent-athletes competitive at the highest level nationally while continuing to elevate athletic facilities at the Capstone to premier status nationally for all sports. During his tenure as director of athletics, Moore has overseen more than $200 million of capital improvements to University of Alabama ath-letic facilities. Those projects have encompassed the entire scope of all Crimson Tide athletic programs and have bene tted every Alabama stu-dent-athlete, coach and administrator. Throughout his career, Moore has worked with a diversi ed eld of constituents, from fellow coaches and former players, to fans and the busi-ness community. All of those experiences and relationships – in addition to his ability to unify those many constituents - have made him the ideal person to lead Alabama athletics in the 21st century.

Moore’s dedication to and love of the University of Alabama was recognized on March 28, 2007, when, as a permanent tribute to his life-long contribution to the University of Alabama, the Board of Trustees of the University of Alabama of cially dedicated the facility formerly known as the Football Building as the Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility. Under Moore’s direction, Alabama’s athletic teams have produced national championship teams in football (2009, 2011 and 2012), gymnas-tics (2002, 2011 and 2012), women’s golf (2012) and softball (2012) and Southeastern Conference championships in football, basketball, baseball, gymnastics, men’s golf, women’s golf, men’s cross country and softball. Alabama athletes have earned some of the highest honors the SEC and NCAA have to offer, including SEC Athlete of the Year, SEC Schol-ar-Athlete of the Year, NCAA Top VIII, NCAA Postgraduate Scholar-ships and NCAA Sportsperson of the Year. These honors are over and above the individual conference and national titles that Alabama athletes continue to bring home to the Capstone on a regular basis. In addition to making his mark on Alabama, Moore also has made a national impact as a key member of several prestigious NCAA and college football committees. Moore has served on the NCAA Division I Football Issues Committee, the SEC Athletic Directors Bowl Advisory Committee, and the Big Six Conferences Minority Coaches Forum. Moore’s distinguished record of service to UA began more than 50 years ago when he joined the Crimson Tide football squad as a scholar-ship player for coach Paul “Bear” Bryant from 1958-62. Moore has the distinction of being a part of 10 national championship football teams as a player, coach and athletic director (1961, 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978, 1979, 1992, 2009, 2011 and 2012), 17 SEC championships, and 39 bowl trips. He is the only individual connected with the Tide program to be a part of nine national football championships. In 2011, Moore was elected to the State of Alabama Sports Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a coach and an administrator. The National Football Foundation then named Moore the recipient of its 2012 John L. Toner Award winner, which goes annually to the athletic director who has “demonstrated superior administrative abilities and shown out-standing dedication to college athletics and particularly college football.” During a coaching career that spanned 31 years, Moore spent 22 of those at Alabama with stops at Montana State, Notre Dame and the NFL’s St. Louis and Phoenix Cardinals. At Alabama, Moore started as Coach Bryant’s graduate assistant in 1964 and then was defensive back eld coach for six seasons beginning in 1965 before becoming quarterbacks coach from 1971-82, also serving as the Tide’s rst offensive coordinator start-ing in 1975. He returned as Alabama’s offensive coordinator under Gene Stallings from 1990-93 before moving into athletic administration. A 1963 graduate of the University of Alabama, Moore holds both an undergraduate degree in sociology and a 1964 Master’s Degree in sec-ondary education from the Capstone. A native of Dozier, Ala., he was married to the former Charlotte Davis of Tuscaloosa for 41 years before she passed away after a long illness in 2010. Moore has one daughter, Mrs. Steve (Heather) Cook of Scottsdale, Ariz., a granddaughter, Anna Lee, and a grandson, Charles Cannon.

Dr. Judith L. Bonner was named the 28th president of The University of Alabama on Nov. 1, 2012. Founded in 1831, the University is the state’s agship and a student-centered comprehensive research university.

Dr. Bonner recently served as interim president from March 5 until Aug. 31, 2012. She was promoted to executive vice president and provost on April 1, 2006, after serving as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs since March 2003. During the decade she served as provost, the University underwent transformational change growing from 19,000 students in 2003 to more than 33,600 in 2012. Each year, the academic strength of the student body and the faculty exceeded the record set the previous year.

Alabama’s athletics programs likewise have excelled in recent years with four teams winning national championships in 2011-2012. Athletics Director Mal Moore lauds Dr. Bonner’s commitment to athletics as well as academics. “Dr. Bonner has long been a supporter of Alabama athletics and I am excited about her leadership of our great University. We have a unique unity on our campus, a special bond between our athletics program and the University at-large. Dr. Bonner’s leadership will only serve to enhance that relationship and the unity that has been such a vital part of our athletics and academic success over these many years,” Moore said.

Dr. Bonner joined the faculty at The University of Alabama in 1981 as associate professor and head of the department of human nutrition and hospitality. She served as assistant academic vice president from 1985-1990 and as special assistant to the president from 1989-1991. Promoted to professor in 1988, she was named dean of the College of Human Environmental Sciences in 1989 and held that position until 2003. Prior to coming to UA, she held faculty appointments in the department of pediatrics at UAB and the department of medical dietetics at The Ohio State University.

Dr. Bonner earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The University of Alabama and her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University, all in nutrition. Her research, focused on nutritional needs of chronically ill children and on eating disorders, has resulted in numerous publications.

Dr. Bonner is an active member of civic, scienti c and professional organizations. Among other awards and honors, her accolades include the Distinguished Alumni Award from The Ohio State University, the AHEA Leader Award and the award for Outstanding Dietitian for the state of Alabama.

Life on The University of Alabama campus is de ned by opportunities. If you want to get involved, join one of more than 350 student organizations, help plan concerts and speaker series, participate in intramural teams or run for student government.

If you enjoy the arts, you can take advantage of a rich and varied schedule of musical, dance and theatre per-formances, art galleries and exhibitions, lectures and readings by writers, poets and experts on every topic imaginable. You can enrich your knowledge of the state and University’s history by visiting one of UA’s ne muse-ums, which house countless historical artifacts and offer hands-on exploration opportunities.

From the architecture on campus to the landscaping, the University of Alabama campus is one of the most beauti-ful places in the state of Alabama.

The Ferguson Center was completed in 1973. Plans at the time called for the building to be constructed over Woods Hall, but it was built slightly to the north thanks to a student campaign to save the art building.

The Ferguson Center Game Room is the perfect place to unwind, test your skill at a video game, play a friendly game of pool or Ping-Pong, or enter a campus tourna-ment. With seven pool tables, video games, a Ping-Pong table, computer gaming and televisions, the Game Room offers a fun escape to the daily pressures of college life.

The University of Alabama offers a complete education-al, cultural and social experience. Whatever your interests, you’ll nd a group, an organization, an activity or a pro-gram that will appeal to you at UA.

The newly expanded Student Recreation Center offers rst-class recreation facilities to students, faculty and

staff. It includes two multi-use gyms, nine multi-purpose courts, weight machines, 1/8-mile jogging track, exten-sive cardio area, locker rooms, indoor swimming pool, dry and steam saunas, 12 lighted tennis courts, four aero-bics rooms, eight racquetball courts and a squash court—together encompassing more than 200,000 square feet. The facility’s outdoor aquatic area, which opened in the summer of 2003, features a lazy river, lap swim, large water-park-type slide and plenty of deck space.

The Jerry Pate Golf Center at the Ol’ Colony Golf Complex provides the University of Alabama women’s golf team with one of the best practice and playing facilities in collegiate golf. The Pate Golf Center is a private facility that is only utilized by the Alabama golf teams. The Pate Golf Center provides plenty of space for both the men’s and women’s teams with the ability to conduct full practice sessions during inclem-ent weather. The facility has six indoor hitting bays and two indoor putting surfaces. The Pate Golf Center is also equipped with state-of-the-art teaching tools, including the V1 Swing Analysis System, the SAM Putting Lab and Trackman, which aides the coaching staff in ball ight analysis using doppler radar and club tting. The locker rooms inside the Pate Golf Center feature tour-sized lockers and all of the amenities, while the lounge area includes comfortable seating and a large-screen television.

The Ol’ Colony Golf Course was named one of the “Top 5 Best New Public Courses in America” by Golf Digest in 2001 and Golfweek named it one of the top-50 municipal courses in America in 2010. The Jerry Pate-designed course is considered one of the best public courses in the nation. The course is a test for even the most advanced golfer with large bunkers, mature trees and numerous water hazards, including a 25-acre lake that challenges almost every shot.

The practice range at the Pate Golf Center, which already provides the Crimson Tide golfers all of the prac-tice components and tools needed to develop, recently nished an expansion and renovation. The practice facility includes a full practice range, putting greens, a chipping area and practice bunkers. The Jerry Pate Golf Center recently has added a new putting green with an expanded chipping and hitting area. The new chipping and hitting areas are complete with new bunkers and practice tees that allow players to hit their own golf balls up to 200 yards into six new target greens.

THE SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE

SEC HISTORY

Alabama captured the program's fi rst SEC Championship in 2010 with a four-stroke

victory at the NorthRiver Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide also posted run-

ner-up fi nishes in 2009 and 2011 with a third-place showing in 2012.

In 2013, the SEC Championship moves to a neutral site at Greystone Golf and Coun-

try Club in Hoover, Ala. The 2013 SEC Championship will be held on April 19-21.

Greystone will serve as the host site for the championship through 2016.

The Crimson Tide boasts a long line of outstanding golfers, but some of the best have

played for the Tide and excelled in the Southeastern Conference over the past several

years. Alabama has had more fi rst-team All-SEC selections over the past seven seasons

(13) as it had in its history prior to 2006 (6). Along with the 2010 victory, Alabama has

fi nished runner-up in the SEC Championship on four occasions, including a second-

place fi nish in 2009 and 2011.

Along with the six golfers earning 13 fi rst-team All-SEC honors in the past seven years,

the Crimson Tide produced three fi rst-team selections in 2011 and 2012 and two each

in 2009 and 2010. Kathleen Ekey and Camilla Lennarth earned fi rst-team honors in

2009 with Lennarth and Jennifer Kirby doing the same in 2010. Lennarth, Stephanie

Meadow and Brooke Pancake were fi rst-team choices in 2011 while Kirby, Meadow

and Pancake were selected in 2012. Alabama has also seen fi ve golfers named to the

SEC All-Freshman Team over the past fi ve years, including two SEC Freshmen of the

Year — Kirby (2010) and Meadow (2011), which gives the Tide its foundation for suc-

cess. Tide coach Mic Potter was selected as the SEC Coach of the Year in 2007 and

then again in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

NCAA TOURNAMENT

Much has changed in tcollegiate golf since Alabama’s Eleanor Dudley won the rst c o l l e g i a t e c h a m p i o n s h i p in 1941. Most notably, there are now women’s collegiate golf teams. Alabama formed its rst women’s team in 1974.

In 1982, the NCAA nally got into the business of women’s athletics and hosting nationals, and that year there were two national tournaments with Tulsa winning both the AIAW and NCAA team titles. The NCAA took over the administering championship starting in 1983. Alabama captured its rst NCAA Championship in women’s golf in 2012, joining a prestigious list of champions. The young women who complie the elite roster of national champions are some of the most famous names in professional golf. The medalist roll call includes: Nancy Lopez, who won the national collegiate title as a Tulsa golfer in 1976; San Jose State’s Patty Sheehan, who won in 1980; and Annika Sorenstam, a U.S. Open champion who won the NCAA title in 1991 as agolfer at the University of Arizona.
