Doane College vs. Hastings College

The GPAC opener will pit two rivals on Wednesday when Doane plays host to Hastings. The Broncos are 9-3 on the year with two of the three losses coming to NAIA Top 25 teams. Most recently, Hastings defeated No. 3 Wayland Baptist at home in five sets.

Abigayle Preissler is the Broncos’ leading attacker with 3.4 kills/set. Katie Zoucha is right behind with 3.2 kills/set. The attack drops off to 1.8 kills/set by Morgan Heise. Katie Placke is setting up the attack by dishing out 9.7 assists/set.

The defensive side is led by Jessica Osterhouse at the net as she is averaging 1.1 blocks/set. In the back row, Jill Bax has posted 224 digs to lead the Broncos, 4.7 digs/set.

Game Day - No. 13 & 14 - September 12

Doane College vs. Central Methodist Doane College vs. Viterbo

The Ashford Saints Invite will open on Friday for the Tigers with a meeting against Central Methodist. It is believe to be the first meeting between the Tigers and the Eagles. The second match of the day will be against Viterbo, a team Doane faced at the Bellevue Labor Day Classic.

CMU enters the week with a 5-6 record. Jordan Jackson is averaging 3.1 kills/set and Lindsay Smith is at 2.4 kills/set. The 6-2 offense is run by Melody Hanson (5.5 assists) and Katelyn Waddell (3.8 assists). Andrea Lopez is averaging 4.7 digs/set.

Viterbo is 14-1 on the year and has won seven straight, including a 3-set win over the Tigers. Alicia Olson continues to dominate on the attack with 5.3 kills/set. The V-Hawks have three more players averaging over 2.0 kills/set. Brianna Brinkman has 10.8 assists/set.

Day 2 of the Ashford Saint Invite will feature two more matches based on how teams do in pool play on Friday. There are four pools of three teams. There are three NAIA Preseason ranked teams, No. 5 Northwestern, No. 12 Park and No. 15 Viterbo.

September 19 vs. Northwestern

On Friday, September 19, parking will be at a premium as Crete High School will be hosting a football game that night as well. Crete High School plays their home games at Doane’s Memorial Stadium and parking does flow over into the Haddix Center parking lot. If you can, we recommend arriving early for closer parking to the gym. Parking is also available to the south of the Haddix Center. Please do not park on the road through campus or in an illegal spot as you could be towed without notice.

This scenario will also happen on October 3 and October 24 when Tiger volleyball is at home. Please plan accordingly.
