PRESENCE OF THE PAST

Multicultural Heritage Centre5411-51 St7 Days a Week, 9am-4pm multicentre.org

Homesteading in a demanding land: that spirit is reflected in the Multicultural Heritage Centre. The centre is comprised of a 1920s era brick schoolhouse that features a museum, a public art gallery, historical archives and the Homesteaders’ Kitchen – famous for its delicious, home-made pies.

Also on-site is the Oppertshauser House (1910). An operating general store complete with old-fashioned candy, vintage toys, jewellery, local art and crafts and Stony Plain souvenirs.

LARGER THAN LIFE!

Town of Stony Plain Mural Collectionstonyplain.com/murals

The Town of Stony Plain was one of the first communities in Canada to start a mural collection. Over two decades later, our community’s story is told in 33 locations around the town.

Take a stroll around town using our self-guided Mural Guide or join in on one of our tours. Walking and bus tours, and horse and wagon rides venture into history while you learn about the life and times of Stony Plain from experienced guides. Book a tour through the Multicultural Heritage Centre or find the Mural Guide at stonyplain.com or the Visitor Information Centre.

STEP INTO THE TIME MACHINE

Stony Plain & Parkland Pioneer Museum 5120-41 Ave

Monday-Friday 10am-4pm (Legacy Street Only)

pioneermuseum.ca

Legacy Street is an indoor street scene depicting the 1930s in a small Alberta town. The scaled down buildings house artifacts and displays from the Dirty Thirties era including a jail, general store and dentist’s office. Touch screen information stations provide general and local history, pictures, anecdotes, fun quizzes and puzzles.

Christmas Light Upstonyplain.com/lightup

You know the festive season has arrived when Downtown comes alive with the lighting of the main street and the beautiful Christmas tree set in the centre of 50 Street. As carollers sing traditional Christmas songs and Santa Claus makes his first appearance of the season, guests stay warm by sipping on hot chocolate and feasting on hotdogs or burgers prepared by the Stony Plain Kinsmen Club.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a toy or a non-perishable food item for the Kinsmen Club’s Christmas Hamper Program.

Family Feststonyplain.com/familyfest

The community’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration features an exciting array of activities suitable for all ages. Gather at Heritage Park to usher in the New Year with

live entertainment, historic displays at Stony Plain and Parkland Pioneer Museum and horse-drawn wagon

rides. Enjoy the bonfires, outdoor skating and warm up with a hot chocolate. The evening

culminates with a spectacular fireworks display while we ring in the New Year with friends.

This event is free to the public and organized entirely on donations from the community. Please bring a non-perishable food-item as a donation to the Parkland Food Bank.
