We cordially invite you to join us this January 21st- 25th 2020 when world-traveled Jin Shin Jyutsu Instructor Susan Schwartz will delightfully guide us through the 23rd annual
Magic of Jin Shin Jyutsu 5 day basic seminar - set in the midst of the high desert, natural splendor of Sedona, Arizona – and held at the beautiful Sedona Elks Lodge:
About Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio-Philosophy: Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio-
Philosophy is the therapeutic Art of harmonizing the body’s life energy. It was brought to the United States from Japan in the 1950’s by Mary Burmeister following the wish of Jin Shin Jyutsu founder Jiro Murai to share this art with America and the world. This therapeutic, acupressure energy Art assists us in balancing our body, mind and spirit. Through the practice of Jin Shin Jyutsu, we may experience the complete peace and serenity which is available to all.
Please note there are No Tests in Jin shin Jyutsu 5-day Basic Seminars :)
“Jin Shin Jyutsu may simplify life complexities so that we live from a place of Being… and Now, Know Myself” … Mary Burmeister (click for video)
Jin Shin Jyutsu uses the gentle touch of the hands as “jumper cables” to support the body’s own innate ability to unblock, balance and harmonize its own energy flows. As Jin Shin Jyutsu is an effective tool for alleviating stress, it supports and enhances the body’s own natural ability to harmonize and rejuvenate.
Class with Susan Schwartz: Susan Schwartz started her
journey as a student of Jin Shin Jyutsu and Mary Burmeister in 1982. She became a certified JSJ Instructor in 2002 and from there has traveled nationally and internationally to lead Jin Shin Jyutsu classes. Susan is also part of the JSJ faculty involved in the creation, support and teaching of the new Jin Shin Jyutsu Certification program currently centered in Morristown hospital Morristown, New Jersey. Along with her teaching

schedule which she began in 2002, she continues an active practice in Baltimore and Washington DC. Susan brings a dynamic, multi-faceted approach to Jin Shin Jyutsu. She integrates her background in clinical psychology, social work and special education into own her unique and enlightened awareness of this profound art. Susan promotes a fresh wonder and a newness for the material. Combined with the depth of her knowledge and experience, Susan’s ease of being and warm sense humor offer a relaxing and exciting learning environment - providing students the opportunity for personal, individualize experiences. A former docent at the Baltimore Museum of Art for 19 years; Susan continues her journey of exploring art in all aspects of her life. She loves the cinema, music and the fine arts. She studies Kabalah, the Bible (Torah) and Biblical commentaries. Susan raised her daughter with her husband in a three-generation household, which provided her continuous insight in the different dimensions and facets of the human life cycle. She had the wonderful opportunity of sharing time with her mother as she passed on from this world, adding to the continued life story and JSJ. Susan shares her enthusiasm and invites each of us to embrace who we are with awareness of ourselves and our journey. About Sedona and the Surrounding Area Sedona lies at ~4,500 ft. above sea level in the natural, High Desert plateau referred to as “Red Rock Country” (about 2 hours north of Phoenix and about 75 minutes south of Flagstaff). With a resident population of ~15 thousand, up until about 30 years ago there were far fewer residents and only 1 stop light in Sedona (at the crossing of 89A and 179). Although, you will find that city of Sedona has grown some since then - Sedona’s natural beauty, her trails and ability to allow one to be connected to nature on a daily basis remains just as potent as ever. Please click the following link for a short Video about Sedona: https://youtu.be/1jfSHLAxKZA
The Sedona area has always been considered a sacred place by the many Native American tribes that lived here - as it comes to be thought of today by most of those who visit her and those of us who call Sedona home… Sedona and its awesome Red Rock formations are part of the same Fort Apache sandstone formation that one sees when visiting the Grand Canyon (4 hours north and at 8,500 ft.) when looking down into the Colorado River Canyon. Except instead of being in a canyon, Sedona’s formation rises out of the flat, high desert plateau that is situated at 4,5000 foot base of the 7,500 ft. Mogollon Rim formation (direction North /Flagstaff – via Oak Creek Canyon - AZ 89A).
With over 250 miles of hiking & biking trails throughout the area and Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona is a place to relax, unwind and re-center in the midst of nature’s beauty and grace … We hope that you will take the opportunity of being in this amazing place to allow the Magic of this place a chance to be part of what you take home with you…
Getting To Sedona by Car, Plane and Shuttle…
Although there is a municipal airport in Sedona – no commercial flights are scheduled in or out of Sedona Airport… So unless you, or a friend has a private plane… to get to Sedona you most likely will either be driving here or flying into Phoenix or Flagstaff and then driving or shuttling in from there to Sedona…

Driving into Sedona – There are 3 ways to come into Sedona by car: via AZ 89A from the South or
North and by AZ Route 179.
When driving from Phoenix on I-17… you can take the AZ 260 at Camp Verde Exit 287 to Cottonwood and then from Cottonwood take the North AZ 89A to Sedona (proper).
OR - When driving from Phoenix on I-17… you can take AZ 179 Exit 298 through the Village of Oak Creek (VOC) and continuing on into Sedona (proper) AZ Route 179 between VOC and Sedona is an absolutely lovely and BEST Scenic Route to take if you have the time (~ 20 minutes longer) – elsewise if you’re driving from Phoenix and want a shorter route – turn off AZ-I1 ad Camp Verde and follow HWY 260 into Cottonwood (as described above) – turning North there onto 89A and driving into West Sedona / Sedona (proper).
If you fly /drive through Flagstaff driving from Flagstaff into Sedona, you can also come via 89A & Oak Creek Canyon by simple following 89A (Oak Creek Canyon) all the way down into Sedona (uptown)… and on to your hotel.
Route AZ 89A down the ~3,000 ft. drop from the top of the Mogollon Rim through Oak Creek Canyon to Sedona is a SPECTACULAR distinction that this high desert area offers – mountains, water and desert - all rolled into one…
OR - If you fly /drive through Flagstaff you can also take AZ I-17 from Flagstaff to AZ 179 (Exit 298), driving through the Village of Oak Creek (VOC) and on into Sedona (proper). (Presuming that you are staying in Sedona and not the Village of Oak Creek – (VOC - Zip 86351) is also sometimes referred to as “Sedona” although it is 12 miles to the east of the City of Sedona (Zip 86336).

The Sedona / Cottonwood Lynx is a public bus system that interconnects Sedona and neighboring Cottonwood with Sedona (proper - not VOC) going as far as Hillside Plaza on 179 (in the direction of VOC). For a map and schedule please go to: Lynx and download their Lynx-Guide
SAFE DRIVING in SEDONA …a few things to keep in mind:
1) Sedona uses both traffic lights and Round-Abouts to keep traffic moving smoothly… If Round-Abouts are new to you – please move through Round-Abouts (counter-clockwise) with extra caution and please ALWAYS give anyone already inside the round-about (or coming from your left) the right-of-way – it is the LAW ;-)
2) Also please understand that there is basically one main route through Sedona (Arizona 89A) – It is 4 lanes with a “5th turn lane” in-between that cars in both directions SHARE! And (where posted) you may enter into … It is therefore easiest to plan your driving to make MOSTLY right hand turns when turning ONTO or FROM 89A and use intersections with a traffic lights to make left hand turns from.
3) If you intend to talk on your cell phone while driving (never recommended) – It’s the LAW that you must use a hands free - wired or wireless cell phone connection when driving and talking on your phone while in Sedona.
Places to Stay, Restaurants, Groceries & Coffee & More: Click on our Made-for-You Sedona Jin Shin Jyutsu Google Maps Link below:
Map: https://goo.gl/kilQOE
For your Reference our JSJ class is being at the Sedona Elks lodge 110 Airport Rd, Sedona, AZ 86336 (Middle map area in Purple) Hotels etc. = Red, Restaurants = Yellow, Grocery/Food = Orange Other Places = Blue
It is recommended for the quickest transportation to and from class to your accommodations that you
might want consider staying in West Sedona & or Sedona proper rather than in the Village of Oak Creek
(VOC) which is some 15-20 minutes (depending on traffic) East But which advertises itself as being in
“Sedona” but isn’t quiet ;-) hint if your hotel’s phone number is 928-284-xxxx… it’s in VOC otherwise
usually if it’s in Sedona it will be 928-282-xxxx… If it’s another number then its probably a mobile number.
A few of the Many of Places to Stay in Sedona map: https://goo.gl/kilQOE
We recommend for speed and convenience that you plan to stay in West Sedona (Sedona proper Zip 86336), Rather than
at hotels in the Village of Oak Creek (86351) – which refers to themselves as in “Sedona” but are actually 15-20 minutes
east of Sedona.
