Greetings in Christ Risen! This past Monday, August 10th, we cele-brated the Feast of our holy patron, St. Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr. Morning Mass was celebrated by Fr. Rey and then I celebrated the evening Mass, which was followed by an Ice Cream Social. I’d say well over 250 folks were present for the event, and good fellowship was had by all. I want to thank the Welcoming Com-mittee (who generously do so much more than welcome folks in our parish, I al-most think they should call themselves something else) and the musicians under Richard’s care and direction, all for mak-ing the whole evening so very special. This weekend we welcome our Archbish-op, Wilton Gregory, who presides at the Noon Mass on Sunday. Archbishop was just here to confirm many of our teens a couple of months ago; however, today he is among us to officially install me as your new Pastor. It is always an honor to have our chief shepherd visit and be with us! He has been a great support to me in my life and in my priesthood—a shepherd and a father. His being here today is most meaningful to me. May I tell you something though? Even as this installation takes place, my heart-felt joy and gratitude, coinciding with the welcome from all of you, has been “official” from the first day I arrived four months ago! You, my fellow parishioners of St. Lawrence, are in my prayers daily, and are always on my mind. May the Good Shepherd bless us, Pastor and Flock, for may years to come!

We, as Christian stewards strive to become one with the Lord by regularly partaking in His Eucharistic banquet. In doing so, we are strengthened to embrace stewardship as a way of life by sha-ring our abundant blessings with our parish communion and the needy. St. Paul reminds us to do this in gratitude to God through Christ.

PLEASE REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS our loved ones who died this week, Richard Nay, the husband of Linda Nay of St. Law-rence, Mario Ragno, the husband of Frances Ragno of St. Lawrence and Henry Salvy, the father of Sue Myers of St. Lawrence. May they rest in Peace.

THE SECOND COLLECTION next week is for our Par-ish Debt Reduction Fund. Your gifts to this Fund-over and above your regular offering for parish support-are helping us accelerate the retirement of our parish debt. Thank you for your good stewardship of St. Lawrence!
