I say to you, this poor widow put in more

than all the other contributors to the

treasury. For they all contributed out of

their abundance; but she out of her

poverty has put in everything she had, her

whole living. ” (Mark 12:43-44)

Jesus gets right to the point – we are all called to

give money to support the mission of the Church,

regardless of our circumstance. No gift is too

small or insignificant! Giving money to support

the mission of our local parish is a matter of our

faith, just like praying and participating in parish

ministries. When you make a financial offering,

is it from your “first fruits” or from what is “left

over”?

Archbishop Appeal 2021

Through the brochures you

have received from the Archdiocese of Regina,

you have been given a glimpse of the good work

shared is a chance to connect with others and

show how your gifts help make a difference. Let’s

reflect on these people and the effect of Gods’

unbinding love in their lives. Please consider how

you might honour their efforts and needs through

your support of the Archbishop’s Appeal.

Our Parish Goal is $55,119. To date, HRC Parish

has raised $17,935 or 32.53%. Donations to the

TRC Healing Response Campaign to date: $2,455.

of mercy is easy to do by

supporting the Cathedral

World Youth Day at Home 2021:Did you know WORLD YOUTH DAY is celebrated internationally every 3 years, BUT is also to be celebrated at a diocesan level EVERY year on the feast of Christ the King? In light of that, ALL young adults 18 and up are invited to join us at the co-cathedral in Gravelbourg on Sunday, November 21st from 3:00 -7:00 PM. A bus will leave Regina at 1:00 PM (with stops in Moose Jaw as well) Come celebrate with Archbishop Don, the community of Gravelbourg and other young adults around the diocese. Archbishop’s AppealToday we encounter with humility true expressions of stewardship and faith in the narratives of the widows presented in the readings. These women, who live lives of poverty, marginal to their communities, become the unlikely examples for us of generosity and authentic response to God. In Mark’s gospel as Jesus sits and observes the crowd depositing money into the treasury, he draws the attention of the disciples to the offering of the widow, who similar to the widow of Zarephath in 1 Kings, gives her last, her all and her only means of support. The poor widow has put in more because she gave everything demonstrating true discipleship for it would come at a cost to her, a level of sacrifice not equaled by the gifts given by others from out of their surplus. The widows offer completely out of trust, confident that what they give could be used by God. They give out of faith that our merciful Lord would continue to provide for them. In these selfless acts of self-giving we recognize a foreshadowing of the path of Christ, who would offer himself completely for us, for our salvation. True stewardship emerges out of the deep appreciation that all the we have and all we are is gifted to us by God and belongs to Him. We are called to give completely of ourselves, of our time and of our talents in service to God through our service to others, from a heart of gratitude, joy and love. To not be afraid, but to go and do the will of the Lord. Through our contribution to the Archbishop’s Appeal, we humbly give back a portion of what the Lord has blessed us with, knowing that regardless of how little we sometimes feel we have to offer of our talents, time or monetary support, what we have to offer will be received with abundant gratitude and can and will be used to continue doing the work of our Lord. May we approach our merciful God with hands that are emptied because all that we have been given has already been given on to others.
