December 9, 2018 – 2nd Sunday of Advent “And this is my prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value…” Philippians 1:9-10 Glittery holiday ads can blind us to our stewardship values and distort our needs and wants. It is important that during this season of endless buying we remember that each of us also has the need to give back to God and to those that are in need.
During the Advent season families should spend time together preparing for the approaching celebration of the birth of Christ. An Advent wreath can be a great focal point for family prayers and holiday celebrations. Children love the beauty of the simple traditional ceremony. Lighting candles
in an Advent Wreath is a simple way to start a tradition of
family worship in the home. Those who participate will cherish the experience all their lives.
Gifts for Baby Jesus. This year, we invite the children of Holy Rosary to bring a gift for baby Jesus as a special way to celebrate Christmas. Gifts could be a drawing, a prayer they have written, or a donation for Birthright. Please take a paper from the table at the back of the church for more ideas and information.

Peace Prayer of St. Francis Lord, make me an instrument of Your
peace: Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to
eternal life. AMEN.

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy. Hail our life, our sweetness and our hope!
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs, Mourning and weeping in this valley of tears!
Turn then O most gracious Advocate, Thine eyes of mercy toward us,
And after this, our exile, show unto us The blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫ O my Jesus, forgive us our sins
Save us from the fires of hell Lead all souls to heaven
Especially those most in need of thy mercy.
