    8. Risk of accidents during construction or operation of the Project, which could affect human health or the environment

    S. No.

    Information/Checklist confirmation

    Yes/No

Details thereof (with approximate quantities /rates, wherever possible) with source of information data

8.1 From explosions, spillages, fires etc from storage, handling, use or production of hazardous substances

Yes Explosives will be handled with utmost care in compliance to rules 16 and regulations and as per provisions of MMR1961. Control and delay technique is used to arrest fly rock. Possibility of accident on account of explosion, spillages, fire or hazardous substances etc is very less or negligible. Proper maintenance, operation and leak proof condition of machinery eliminates possibilities of fire. However fire extinguishers will be provided near workshop, mines office in each vehicles etc. and all persons shall be properly trained to quench the fire at source itself. No other major risks will be involved, as mines will be working following provisions of mines act, rules and regulations and under supervision of qualified persons.

8.2 From any other causes Yes Accidents by transport vehicles due to negligence and/or ignoring the safety aspects. However, to deal the minor incidences and accidents, first aid measures at site will be provided.

8.3 Could the project be affected by natural disasters causing environmental damage (e.g. floods, earthquakes, landslides, Cloudburst etc)?

No The project is located in the Seismic Zone III. There has been no flood, cloudbursts and landslide reported so far in the history of this area.

    9. Factors which should be considered (such as consequential development) which could lead to environmental effects or the potential for cumulative impacts with other existing or planned activities in the locality

    S. No.

    Information/Checklist confirmation

    Yes/No

Details thereof (with approximate quantities /rates, wherever possible) with source of information data

9.1 Lead to development of supporting, facilities, ancillary development or development stimulated by the project which could have impact on the environment e.g.:

    • Supporting infrastructure (roads, power supply, waste or waste water treatment, etc.) • housing development

    • extractive industries

    • supply industries

    • other

Yes Employment opportunities will increase due to the requirement of workers for the proposed project. Local people will be preferred for employment. This will contribute in raising the socio-economic status and standard of living of the nearby villagers. Greenery of the surrounding area will be enhanced which will further add the area aesthetic beauty to the area. This will contribute in raising the socioeconomic status and standard of living of the nearby villagers

9.2 Lead to after-use of the site, which could have an impact on the environment

Yes The after use of site planned would be helpful to the society, owing to better greenery and development of water reservoir supporting the surrounding localities.

9.3 Set a precedent for later developments Yes A better after use scenario, which is likely to increase aesthetic beauty of the area in addition to benefit of greenery and water reservoir, would set precedence for subsequent entrepreneurs who venture such projects.

9.4 Have cumulative effects due to proximity to other existing or planned projects with similar effects

No major industries except two silica sand mines are located in the 10 km area, which are not functional, few grinding unit of other mineral and two small crushers to produce grits. Thus there is likelihood of cumulative effect due to the transportation of mineral only, but the impact of the project will be limited to M.L Area. A better planned and executed project has to yield a better result individually; which in turn has to give better cumulative effect also.
