DONACION DE FLORES DE PASCUA

Our Lady of Basella

Bassella is a small town in Italy known for the appearance of the Virgin Mary in 1356. On the night of April 7 of that year a strong frost affected much of the region and many feared that a famine would occur, as the people there were engaged in agriculture. At sunrise, a 15-year-old girl named Marina Casone went to the field to see the damage caused by the frost. When she saw the crops in full bloom burned, she ex-claimed: "Holy Virgin!" And burst into tears. Then Our Lady appeared to him and after comforting her he said that the harvest would not be damaged; then he revealed his identity and that in that place there had been a church consecrated to her and, if they dug there, they would find the ruins. The news flew and, to the astonishment of all, when digging they found the altar and the ruins of an old church. The bishop of Bergamo laid the first stone of the new sanctuary, in front of a large crowd that came from neighboring countries. The enthusiasm was such that in just five months the construc-tion was completed. The Madonna della Basella was crowned on September 8, 1921 and its sanctuary is a place of pilgrim-age for tens of thousands of faithful from all over.

Chrism Mass at the Cathedral

This Month’s Liturgy at a Glance

The month of April is time of contemplation, forgiveness, and renewal for Christians. The fifth Sunday of Lent calls us to not anchor ourselves in the past with nostalgia, use-less bitterness or excessive pride; and it shows us an ex-ample of divine justice. Then we celebrate Holy Week, with all the rites laden with mystery and meaning for life. From April 14th to the 21st we have the riches days, litur-gically, of the whole year, because they are centered on the mysteries of redemption: the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Two times—on Palm Sunday and Good Friday—we read the full account of the Passion of Christ. The liturgy of the Easter Vigil is possibly the most complete and important celebration of the entire Christian year, as it presents an overview of our faith, with a review of the history of creation and re-demption. It is full of symbolisms of darkness and light, death and life—a new life that spring forth from water and fire—that represent our salvation. It is the night of the affirmation of our faith, of the renewal of our baptis-mal promise, and of the reception of new catechumens into the Catholic community. With the last Sunday of April, Already in the Easter season, a period of deepening in these topics begins, to fully live the faith and the deep conviction of the power of the Resurrection. Finally, this month we also have Marian celebration such as Our Lady of Good Counsel and Our Lady of Montserrat, and the memorials of St. Catherine of Siena, St. Francis of Paola, and St. Isidore of Seville, St. Vincent Ferrer, and St. Stan-islaus, among others .

Eventos Parroquiales

La Liturgia de este mes de un vistazo

El mes de abril es el momento de la contemplación, el perdón y la renovación de los cristianos. El quinto domingo de Cuaresma nos llama a no anclarnos en el pasado con nostalgia, amargura inútil, y con un orgullo excesivo; Y nos muestra un ejemplo de justicia divina. Luego celebramos la Semana Santa, con todos los ritos cargados de misterio y significado para la vida. Del 14 al 21 de abril tenemos los días de riqueza, litúrgicamente, de todo el año, porque están centrados en los misterios de la re-dención: la Pasión, la Muerte y la Resurrección de nuestro Se-ñor Jesucristo. Dos veces, el domingo de Ramos y el Viernes Santo, leemos el relato completo de la Pasión de Cristo. La litur-gia de la Vigilia Pascual es posiblemente la celebración más completa e importante de todo el año cristiano, ya que presenta una visión general de nuestra fe, con una revisión de la historia de la creación y la redención. Está lleno de simbolismos de os-curidad y luz, muerte y vida, una nueva vida que brota del agua y el fuego, que representa nuestra salvación. Es la noche de la afirmación de nuestra fe, de la renovación de nuestra promesa bautismal y de la recepción de nuevos catecúmenos en la comu-nidad católica. Con el último domingo de abril, Ya en la tempo-rada de Pascua, comienza un período de profundización en es-tos temas, para vivir plenamente la fe y la profunda convicción del poder de la Resurrección. Finalmente, este mes también tenemos celebraciones marianas como Nuestra Señora del Buen Consejo y Nuestra Señora de Montserrat, y los memoriales de Santa Catalina de Siena, San Francisco de Paula y San Isidoro de Sevilla, San Vicente Ferrer, y San Estanislao, entre otros.

Nuestra Señora de Basella

Bassella es un pueblo pequeño de Italia conocido por la aparición de la Virgen María en 1356. La noche del 7 de abril de ese año una fuerte helada afecto a gran parte de la región y muchos temieron que ocurriera una hambruna, pues la gen-te de allí se dedicaba a la agricultura. Al salir el sol, una joven de 15 años llamada Marina Casone fue al campo a ver los daños causados por la helada. Cuando vio los cultivos en pleno brote quemados, impresionada exclamo: “¡Virgen San-ta!” y estalló en lágrimas. Entonces Nuestra Señora se le apareció y tras consolarla le dijo que la cosecha no se dañaría; luego le revelo su identidad y que en ese lugar había existido una iglesia consagrada a ella y, si cavaban allí, encontra-rían las ruinas. La noticia voló y, para el asombro de todos, al escavar encontraron el altar y las ruinas de una antigua iglesia. El obispo de Bérgamo coloco la primera piedra del nuevo santuario, frente a una gran multitud que llego desde los países vecinos. El entusiasmo fue tal que en solo cinco meses se completó la construcción. La Madonna della Basella fue coronada el 8 de septiembre de 1921 y su santuario es lugar peregrinación, para decenas de miles de fieles de todas partes.
