Details are at www.aaukarate.org Look forward to these divisions at the SuperRegionals Open Flag Kata, Advanced/Black Belts, 16 and older (two competitors perform their choice kata side by side, modified repercharge for the losers’ bracket, no repeat of kata until repercharge round) Flag Kata (two competitors side by side doing their choice kata), Senior Kata (ages 35+, Scored Kata performed one person at a time) SanBon Kumite 3 point sparring for all ages, ranks Official and Coaches Certification at the Regional Level. Black belts over age 16 are invited to get started in the Officiating or Coaching programs. You will receive feedback, tips, and certification at the Regional level from Sensei Robinson, member of AAU USA National Referee Council and WUKF International Referee Commission. Individual Awards 5 points for every gold medal, 3 points for every Silver, 1 point for every Bronze medal earned. The more divisions, the higher likelihood of winning. Top 5 individuals with most points will take home a trophy. In the event of tie by points, the youngest athletes will take home trophies. AAU rules are available at www.aaukarate.org. Instructors & Coaches Meeting Saturday, April 27 at 8:45 AM at the Competition Venue. Meet other Karate instructors, coaches and clubs, and review karate rules and procedures for the day.

Individual Events, $60 per individual Kobudo, kata, kumite divisions will be offered for 4 ranks per age group 5-6-7 years co-ed competition, 8-9 boys, 8-9 girls, 10-11 boys, 10-11 girls, 12-13 boys, 12-13 girls, 14-15 boys, 14-15 girls, 16-17 boys, 16-17 girls, 18-34 men, 18-34 women, 35+ men, 35+ women. Beginner Rank: White Belt (<1 year of training) Novice Rank: Green (1-2 years of training) Intermediate Rank: Brown (2-3 years of training) Advanced Rank: Black (>3 years of training) **We reserve the right to combine divisions to promote competitive spirit.

Order of Events starting at 9:30 AM Black Belt Adults (ages 16 & up) first, Weapons, then Pee Wee division, and Kobudo, Kata, Kumite from youngest to teens. Team events at the end.

No Team events at Regional At the National Championships, team events are offered: Team Kobudo and Team Kata (may be co-ed if under 18 years old (same sex if age 19 and over), Team Kumite (Age groups, 5-8, 9-12, 13-17, 18+)

Participants & Admission Fees Advanced Registration: $60 per athlete for all individual events, and $60 per team, received by Mar. 2, 2019 $5 per spectator collected at the Door.

Sensei will mail payment and Group Roster. 3. Register at the door on event day, extra $20 charge. Athletes and coaches should include a copy/proof of AAU membership with the mail-in event registration OR present proof of membership at the door.

Officials’ Attire Blue blazer, white shirt, AAU red tie, grey slacks, black socks and soft sole shoes, not sneakers.

Competitors’ Attire For Kobudo and Kata:

• White gi/unform, no piping or borders.

• White, green, brown, or black belt ONLY

• One patch on the left side of jacket. AAU patches are available for purchase at competition venue.

• Corrective lenses including glasses are allowed. For Kumite:

• Same attire as above but no glasses.

• White vinyl helmet with face shield is required for competitors 18 years and under. See AAUKarate.org or for approved official gear

• Mouthpiece and naugahyde handguards

• Groin cups are required for males.

• Cloth shin and foot protectors okay for youth <18.

Adult & Minor Athletic Waiver and Release of Liability In order for my child or me to participate in the 2019 AAU Karate SuperRegional, I agree to assume the risks incidental to such participation and release the parties defined below, of all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any nature arising out of my participation or my child’s participation in the April 27 event. The released parties are Triangle’s Best Karate + Fitness, City of Charlotte, Amateur Athletic Union, its officers, its affiliated clubs, regional sports organizations, their respective administrators, directors, agents, coaches and other employees, staff, official and volunteers of the organization, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessees of premises used to conduct the event. I understand that this release and indemnity agreement includes any claims based on the negligence, action or inaction of any of the above released parties and covers bodily injury (including death) and property damage. I declare that I and/or my child is physically fit, is a current 2019 AAU member, and has the skill level required to participate in this event. I further authorize medical treatment for my child or myself at my costs, if the need arises. I grant the released parties the right to photograph and/or videotape me and further to use my name, face, likeness, voice and appearance in connection with the exhibitions, publicity, advertising, and promotional materials without reservation or limitation.
