MP3 modeYou can also use this car sound sys-tem to play CD-Rs and CD-RWs thatcontain MP3 music files.

MP3 is a process developed by theFraunhofer Institute for compressing CDaudio data. Compression allows data tobe reduced to around 10% of their orig-inal size without a noticeable loss inquality (at a bit rate of 128 kbit/s). If alower bit rate is used to convert CD au-dio data to MP3, you will be able to cre-

ate smaller files but this will be accom-panied by a loss in audio quality.

Preparing an MP3-CDThe various combinations of CD burn-ers, CD burning software and CD blanksmay lead to problems arising with thedevices ability to play certain CDs. Ifproblems occur with your own burnedCDs, you should try another brand ofCD blank or choose another colour ofCD blank. To avoid problems when play-ing CDs, you should not burn CDs atspeeds greater than 16-speed.The format of the CD must be ISO 9660Level 1 / Level 2 or Joliet. Other formatscannot be played reliably. You can create a maximum of 253 di-rectories on a CD. You can use this de-vice to access each of these directo-ries.Regardless of the number of directorieson the CD, the device can handle up to65,535 MP3 files on a single CD - evenif they are all stored in one directory.
