I’m a trained engineer. My mind is technical. And in my previous functions, I mainly interacted with other technicians, so we spoke the same language. Today my attributions are more international and commercial. I’m not speaking only with engineers and the cartesian brain is not enough anymore.

Sanny HANSSENS - Project Engineer, Vigan Engineering

I’ve long hesitated between a long training in management and a shorter course. My choice for the accelerated programme is a question of timing. I’m about to be promoted and I wanted to accompany this new career step with proper solid training. This is why the Solvay programme, with a real evaluation at the end, seemed to have more value than other similar programmes on the market.

Cédric StAppAErtS - Deputy Commissioning Manager, Electrabel GDF Suez

I’m now leading a team of 10 people and, in terms of perception, people in the company know what I can accomplish. They’ve seen the skills put into practice and both my managers and my team have greater confidence. As for me, I also feel more confident speaking to different departments and I understand better higher management decisions.

A welcome word from the DirectorWhy a general management training for young working professionals?

Young managers, today more than ever, are facing a highly competitive and always more complex world. Whether they have chosen to work in the business world, for the public or for the NGO sector, they need perspective, knowledge and core managerial skills to succeed.

Sometimes, career opportunities present themselves when you least expect it. You might not be ready and you certainly do not have one or two years to prepare yourself. What you need is to familiarise yourself with management tools and techniques quickly! A fast and intensive track to leadership.

On the corporate level, training needs for this target population are also becoming vital. Retaining people is now as important as finding it. To do so, more attention is now given to career development and management. Companies look for target-group oriented learning and for short or accelerated training opportunities for their high-potential staff.

Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (SBS-EM) thought necessary to address all these needs with its traditional academic approach and methodology, mixing generic knowledge and more specific content, hard and soft skills and finding the right balance between theory and real-life challenges. Our participants should come out of this experience with new insights and knowledge directly applicable in the workplace.

Deeply anchored in Brussels, its international community, and the business world, the School also wanted to propose a programme available in English and compatible with professional obligations. In the next few pages, you will discover the structure and specifics of SBS-EM’s Accelerated Management Programme.

We hope it meets your needs.

The atmosphere inside the group is excellent. Participants come from extremely varied backgrounds, which enriches the discussion and also allows you to expand your network of relations.

Nicolas redant, Account Manager, Vanbreda International - Global Solutions

My company was very enthousiastic about Solvay’s reputation. But it’s really the content that persuaded me. Nowhere else have I found the same type of content, spread during the same amount of time. Even the days, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It’s really ideal.

Wim Coorevits, Senior Consultant, Delaware Consulting

The long term goal is evidently to climb the ladder inside my organisation. But what I was looking for in priority was this immediate return that the AMP already provided. I made progress in several domains and this allows me to answer my client’s needs even better.
